Default IPOD question

I installed my new radio and has a jack in the front for a ipod.
Where do I start researching for what kind of Ipod and the cable to connect with? What is the difference between a Ipod and a MP3?

Is it an actual ipod interface or an AUX in?

It's just an aux input. you can connect anything with a 3.5mm headphone or line out put.

Here's the cable you need:

if you don't mind something "used" I would go with a refurbished
iPod Nano from the Apple store...holds ton of music (up to 2K songs) free shipping and only $99 & one year warranty.

Refurbished iPod nano 8GB silver (previous generation) - Apple Store (U.S.)

I am not sure if I completely understand your question. If you have an ipod and you have an AUX in, they you just need a mini cable like Toad posted. Just plugged into the AUX in of the radio and then to the headphone out of the ipod. The sound quality really depends on the speakers you have in your car.

Thw sound on your iPod or mp3 player will depend on 2 things. The quality of the recording thats downloaded on your machine, and the quality of your audio system.
