Hi I'm new here, and I couldn't find any posts that quite described what I'm experiencing. I just brought home a new 2010 beetle convertible and while the radio is on there is an unusual background "white noise" sound coming from the left and right dashboard speakers only. The volume of the noise doesn't increase or decrease with changing the volume and it's persistent regardless of which input is selected. With all these symptoms I'm led to believe it's likely a speaker problem. But if it is a speaker problem, isn't it unusual that the noise volume doesn't scale up or down with changes in the speaker volume? Is this a known issue at all?
Thanks for your time! ![]() Kris |

Well I took it in to the dealer to have them fix the issue. I had the service manager listen to it and he agreed it sounded bad. So the next day I got a call and the service manager explained to me that they are not able to fix this problem. He said he listened to another 2010 beetle that they had on the lot and he heard the same thing. He told me it's probably just a normal sound that these particular car stereos have.... Needless to say I was rather skeptical of this "point of view." I mean I can get better quality sound from my wife's '98 Hyundai accent factory stereo for god's sake lol. After some debate I told him I may just go buy a new stereo myself. Then the service manage explained, "it's not recommended to change the stereo as the factory installed stereo has some integral component within it that is needed to help the central computer communicate with all the other components in the car. And if you replace it, the check engine light will likely come on and their computers won't be able to diagnose anything until they remove the new stereo and put the old one back in." OK... admittedly I'm no expert when it comes to automotive issues, but come on... this sounds like a load of $#!# to me.
So I would greatly appreciate any expert advice on this. Especially if you happen to own a 2010 Beetle with a Monsoon stereo. I feel like I should fight this, but I would like some reassurance I am "in the right," as it were, before I start this showdown. Thanks again guys! ![]() |
