Why do you want it to go into safe mode? I find normally if the car is unaware that the headunit has been disconnected it won't go into safe mode. The only way you can induce safe mode in my experience is to unplug the radio with the car battery connected so the car is aware what's going on. Plug it back in and it should ask for the radio code.

My battery went dead today. Jump started it and my radio is doing the same thing. I know how to reset it if it goes into safe mode problem is it didn't. Radio displays 88.9, won't play, can't change station, can't change mode. Thermometer isn't working either. Everything else is fine.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Weird that its in a zombie state, neither dead (safe mode) or alive (operational). Maybe you can feed it some brain.
