Default Removing Stock Stereo

Here's the deal. I'm all set to install my aftermarket stereo, purchased everything I need to do the job, but am having trouble removing the stock stereo. Yes I purchased a set of Keys... off ebay which may be my first mistake. In using the keys they do not seem to do anything to assist/unlock the stereo so that it can be removed. Is there something I'm doing wrong?? Anyone have some tips that might help in this area??
Thanks in advance!

Stick your fingers in the tape deck and pull.

Tried that... but the stereo wouldn't budge. Seems like it was still locked into place, like the tools I had to use weren't releasing the stereo.

Okay... so I don't have a picture of the keys I bought. They have a single end, which looks like the ends labels 1 in the jpg you attached. I'm thinking I probably bought the wrong ones... dang it anyhow. Here I thought I did all my research and had everything to make this an easy process. Well... it's off to the store to find the right tool to do the job. Got any suggestions for where these can be purchased... without going to the dealer?? I'm sure the stealer wants a mint for them.

I have used the metal spine from a hanging file folder.
Remove the spine from the folder. Break the metal part in half, so you have two pieces. If you can, scrape the white paint off the end of the hanger

Insert the right angle ends into the radio like what is demo'd here: YouTube - Volkswagen New Beetle Radio Removal

To get the metal ends to snap in, you have to press the hanger ends (in the radio) down, so it catches behind the radio metal clips. Once the file folder metals ends are in the radio, pull it out.

Man that radio is a bit of a pain to get out. Its tight in there, a little tugging and hold your tounge just right and shell come out! Good Luck!
