Here is my story in the never ending quest for the "in car location" of the radio code.
After turning my filing cabinet upside down to find the radio code card the dealer game me when I bought the car, I called Volkswagen of America. The very nice lady on the other end of the phone informed me the radio code is on a sticker in the spare tire well in the trunk. And then she said the dealer often removes the sticker, and should have given it to me when I bought the car.
The dealer wanted $50 to take the VIN and call into VW to get the code. Unreal. No deal.
I got the radio removed and sent off to ReplacementRadio.com to be fixed. A couple of days later, I discovered a sticker fastened to the underside of the frame that supports the radio. After carefully pulling it out, I found it had the radio code.
Then, on a whim, I removed the spare tire. I found the place where the radio code sticker had been. After searching the spare tire well and finding nothing, I replaced the spare. I turned around and found a paper on my driveway. Guess what? It was the missing sticker with the radio code.
Oh, well!
