Default Got a new head unit today.....

The question is, when I pull out the old Sony Xplod to put in the new Kenwood, am I going to need codes for the anti theft system?

Aftermarket for aftermarket? What makes you think the anti-theft would be operational anyway?

Thats why I'm asking. I dont know that is or isnt. I had it installed @ best buy. Is it common for the anti theft to be disabled when a aftermarket unit is installed?

I wouldn't think the aftermarket head units would support the feature, hence removable faces, etc. I think the anti-theft basically involves a "shut-down" of the head unit when power is lost, not something in the vehicle. Defeating the purpose of stealing the unit. It becomes useless when installed in another vehicle. When a "new" OEM unit is installed, I'm pretty sure it's the head unit that gets programmed. That's the way it works with GM. But the Germans... Hmmm...

You should not need the code. If you are putting back in the Monsoon, you would.
