Default adding a sub to Monsoon

03 Turbo S with Monsoon tape deck and factory cd changer in the hatch:

I would like to add an amp and small sub to the existing system. Does anyone know which wire on the CD changer harness I could tap for a remote on? It would make it some much faster not to have to pull the deck to tap the remote lead.

Thanks all,
Jon

Question

The Monsoon system already has one external amp, you want to add a second? And, excuse my ignorance with aftermarket subs and amps, but you want to pull what off the CD Changer harness? A power lead with a remote switch? Are you disconnecting the CD changer? The only power lead going to the Changer is from the Head Unit and it is switched when the Changer is chosen.

no, I just need the remote on/off. This is usually a blue wire that acts as the signal wire to the internal relay in the amp. Main power will be pulled right from the battery but without a signal to turn it on or off when the radio is on it will never shut off.

Typically this is done by tapping into the radio harness or a switch 12v source at the fuse box. I just figured that there was an existing wire that I could tap into running the factory CD changer.

The amp I will be adding will only be used to power the sub and not any of the existing speakers.

Thanks,
Jon

I believe I tapped the back of my deck...so not much help here. Where are you tapping for the inputs though? I went off the back of the deck for that as well...when I still had my Monsoon.

This is probably no help, but the wiring diagram can either be found on in the how-to section or on the top of the radio if you end up pulling it.

There is a thread that MyOther... started a while back that was all about stock radio and I attached many pdf's one is a wiring diagram of the monsoon system. That might be what you are looking for. I used that diagram to completely remove the monsoon from my car and wire in a new amp for the highs recently. (the monsoon amp wouldn't turn off)

Antoine's posts would be here

I still think the power lead to the changer is switched, and only powers up when the Changer is called upon.
