Default Replaced stock HU wi Clarion VZ401 in dash DVD

Hello all. I am a bonafide noob and apologize if my question has been answered previously. I searched and did not find anything so here goes...

I just took delivery of an 03 Sundown Orange NB convertible, love the car but wanted in dash DVD for my kids (which they will likely never watch with top down but that is another story). Being that my time is at a negative most of the time I opted to have a local shop do the install. I purchased a Clarion VZ401 single DIN unit with flip out LCD. Being that we would never sit in the car and watch a movie parked I had them ground the pink wire which spoofs parking brake to HU.

All is well so far. A few hours after doing so my MIL light comes on. Not sure if I chase down another issue or assume it is due to the pink wire short to ground.

Has anyone else done this? I was told my OEM radio was not Monsson if that helps.

sadly you are kinda in a catch 22 here (sorta) if they hooked it up incorrectly then running a vag-com on it can actually damage the vag-com itself. Some vw dealerships will not even put certain cars on their computers if you have an aftermarket head unit hooked up. So to actually test it to see what the mil is coming on for most would probably have you take out or completely disconnect the head unit so they do not accidentally mess up their equipment and then run the scan.

that didn't help much but the short version is disconnect it, have someone scan it.

Wink

I had Advance Auto read the code and it was just a coincidence, catalytic not optimal. May replace it or simply bypass as my state does not test.

Anyhow the Clarion VZ401 has been great. I ran the USB cable over to the glovebox and can either hook up my ipod or a thumbdrive with music. It does typical tuner,CD/DVD stuff as well and does bluetooth so I can place calls or stream music from my phone. Thing I like is it hides away when not in use.
