Default radio code (again!)

OK...
I know this is a popular topic and I think I've read through them all and I am comfortable with what needs to be done.
I apologize for creating another one, but thought I'd get one on the newest page
I've called my local dealer and they've insisted that I need to bring the vert in to hook her up to their computer (which Im sure validates their $75 fee) to get the radio code.
I sent a PM to Kaiser, but I've not seen a lot of recent activity from him (or her) so I wanted to post this thread to see if any one else on the board has access to the VW system to retrieve. If you can, please respond and I will PM my VIN/SN.
TIA
Jeff

If the radio is the one that came with the car, it should automatically put in the code once you start the car.

It's not the original radio.
I bought the '04 vert for my daughter and it came with an aftermarket unit installed.
I purchased an OEM unit (without a code) which is now in the dash. Hoping that someone can access the VW code for me.
Again, I will PM my VIN and S/N if anyone can assist.
Thank you.

OK, then it won't autoreset.

I think you will also need the vin from the car that the radio came from. That's what they needed to find the code for a radio I picked up.

Here's the solution. This is rather painless, and you're not going to find someone around here who can obtain it for you for free nor will a Dealer do it without substantial cost.

You need:
  1. The "new" radio head serial number (the site will explain how to obtain this and what number you are looking for).
  2. The VIN of your vehicle (the site will explain that you only need a VW VIN, not the one from the donor car).
  3. A PayPal Account
  4. $24.95 and the ability to wait 30 min. to 24 hrs. for a reply with the unlock code
Go here:
Can't find your factory car stereo radio code? We can help!
  • Click "Get Code Now" button
  • Scroll down page, click Volkswagen Icon
  • Scroll down page, complete required information
  • Click PayPal Icon to purchase
  • Complete the purchaser information
Read Q&A below the PayPal Icon before clicking.

This is also how to get your unlock code if you have a year/model that does not read the original head unit automatically and requires you to enter your unlock code that came with the car, that you don't have.

I haven't done this, but a good friend and fellow Orger, Tico4Life (and I have to give credit to him for the resource), found this and used it to upgrade the factory tape unit in his '04 NBC to a CD/SAT unit. He had absolutely no problems.

Hope this helps not just you, but everyone in either of the two situations!

There actually did used to be a member on here that would get radio codes for you. But he hasn't been on in quite some time

That is what I said...
"you're not going to find someone around here who can obtain it for you for free"

Btw, "used to be", not "did used to be", and the "actually" is understood! (There used to be a member on here that would get radio codes for you.)
Good Morning, SB!

Default maybe I can help.

I recently contacted a dealership in Bakersfield, CA and the gave me the code over the phone. I had to wait for them to call back, but I got it free. I needed the cars VIN and the serial of the radio. VW...... You can give them a try.
Just tell them you need VW and that you need a radio code.

Thumbs up

I believe that! There are a few decent Dealers around, especially the ones who want you to remember them when it's time for service. The very reason I have the Dealer do most of my regular scheduled service items.
