I know what you are thinking ' Oh no, not that old chestnut' but I hope this view of things helps.
With both front speakers shot I remembered I had 2 new Sony 130w kicking around somewhere so being a tight wad and not one for boom, boom, boom 'pump up da bass' I decided they were going in.
You all know the drill but for those that don't here you are from the top:
1, Open the window.
2, Remove the 3 torque screws from the bottom of the door panel (if you are too lazy to find a torque driver like me, a small flat screwdriver will do).
3, Pull off the cover from the door pull, you should not need a screwdriver to lift it, pull it straight and easy or you will break the retaining clips.
4, Remove the two X head screws.
5, Gently pull away the bottom of the door panel.
Lift the panel UP out of the top groove that runs along the top of the door, it may stick a little. Do not lift too high as you will pull on the wiring loom that is attached to the back of the panel.
CLOSE THE WINDOW !!!!
6, Reach down and unclip the various plugs, most have just one lug to squeeze with the exception of the door light that has two, one you can't squeeze so insert your screwdriver between the lug and the panel then press the opposite one. On the drivers side be careful of the loom fitted to the lock LED as it is thin and could break. Also on the drivers side you have the fuel flap and trunk release, these are released by a center lug on the underside, squeeze it and wiggle, they are on tight.
7, Lay the panel down shiny side up away from harms way, do not lean it against the car or a wall, if it falls face down you will need to paint it.
8, Unplug the offending speaker.
9, Remove the foam surround,
10, Tear out the cone to expose the plastic retaining spokes.
11, Using a hacksaw blade, cut out the spokes flush with the surround, remove the magnet then make sure you have CLOSED THE WINDOW, drill out the rivets holding the surround to the door. It is possible to fit the speaker with the surround in place but I chose not to.
12, Rivet or bolt 4 right angle cabinet brackets to the four retaining lugs on the new speaker, sit the speaker on the surround, mark and drill four holes, then rivet/bolt the speaker to the surround.
13, If you were careful on removal, the original socket will still have the wires on so either solder them to the speaker as I did or clamp on one 10 amp and one 5 amp spade connector, then connect.
14, Place the speaker back in the door, rivet it in place, connect and test
Replace the rubber surround and the door panel making sure all connectors are fitted in the right place or you will have the window opening when you want to lock the doors (as I did)
Good Job done cheap :-)
If you want a bigger speaker, forget the brackets and just bend the speaker lugs over the edge and screw or rivet, they fit perfect.
