Talking Needing music in the beetle

We need a music source in our beetle! Has anyone tried satellite radio, and are you happy with it?
How about single CD players to replace the factory cassette?
All suggestions are appreciated!

thanks to all!

Moved thread to the Car Audio forum, so that you might get some more people responding to it.

May want to check out this thread. It discusses both Sirius and XM for satelite radio:

... or this thread
http://forums.newbeetle.org/showthre...threadid=53927
which discusses integrating MP3 players into your NB.

Also, the OEM single disc in-dash CD decks are still pretty expensive... but they are certainly available.

I think a PhatBox would be my choice at the moment, if I didn't already have my iPod built in.

Default Satalite radio, ect....

Several owners having satalite radio installed reported problems related to antenna placement on the dash of their cars. Apparently it can cause clitches in the engine management computer and other electrical components if installed in the wrong location.
In order to have the single CD in dash player, you would need to drop some large amounts of cash and hope that the plug connectors for the original head unit are applicable to the new unit you may want. I find there is no difference in sound quality from the 6 disc. players mounted in the rear hatch and the single play in dash units. It is more convenient to have 6 CD's to choose from. Another thing to consider is buying extra cassettes for more CD's to fit in. This multiple cassette practice allows for many CD's available with only a stop of the car, say for gas or bathroom breaks...Good Luck, JK
