Default Monsoon HU replacement using crutchfield kit

Has anyone here ever used Crutchfield's "kit" to replace their Monsoon head unit?
I ordered a Pioneer deh-p6800mp from them today and wondered what type of PITA it is going to be to get the deck to talk to the Monsoon amp. Also, has anyone ever used a powered Bazooka tube for a sub in their NB? Good, bad, etc...???

Thanks!!

You should have no problem with the crutchfield products and install. Things I would recommend:

1) Remove the center dash below the climate control.
Reason? It will make it easier to guide the harness for the HU after it is connected.

Other than that it's pretty self-explanitory from there.

Good luck and enjoy.

If you're adapting to a DIN HU I'm sure you got their plate. Be careful - if the two parts get fastened together in the package it is almost impossible to get them apart without breaking one of them. Happened to me. It looks nice, though.

When I bought my Alpine CDA-9855 it had seperate 2"x3" low-level power control box connected to the headunit with cable. So, I had to take the whole dash to get the thing fit in there!!! But other than that, it was pretty easy and the sound quality is sweet. Be sure to go HERE (Ross-Tech's Aftermarket Radio Problem & Fix) and read on it. Usually, aftermarket radio adaptors have the K-Line wire connected to 12V which causes a lot of problems and can even fry diagnostic equipment. So, for me I had to do it all over again when dealer told me he couldn't scan the codes because of the K-Line.

Good luck on the install.

I wish I would have seen this reply yesterday before I put the kit in my NB. I bought a Pioneer DEH-6800MP and their kit was included. Sure enough, those two mounting pieces were connected when I got the kit from Crutchfield I had a b*tch of a time getting those two loose. I installed the deck in no time after figuring out that all that spare wire needed to go lower into a hole below the radio in the dash. The only problem is though... I saw AFTER I installed the radio that the mini jack in the face of the Pioneer cd player in now not accessable due to the Crutchfield install bracket. I have to find some way to remove that bracket and use their other bracket that fits behind the cd player sleeve and allow me to use the Pioneer face plate, NOT the Crutchfield one.
Any idea on how to get that bracket apart now that it's in my NB's dash??? By the way, this Pioneer deck rocks!!! in the NB with Monsoon sound system. Tons of bass, treble and all the volume you can handle and then some!! I got it for $220.00 total from Crutchfield after using a $50.00 off anything over $250.00 online coupon I found. Thanks,
