So I've been reading and reading and reading around the org and I think i figured out what i need to do I just don't know WHERE to do it!

I have an '04 NB with the monsoon stereo. it has the capibility of me adding a changer in the back and, according to a friend, this is where I should start. well after poking around the truck I found a monsoon box but thats it.. its just a small box and without taking out molding, etc I really don't know if this is the right place to start.

so the idea is.. i would like to basically run a wire to hook into an iPod.. now i know I've read on here that some of them are behind the player (?) but is there anyway I can avoid that and work with the trunk portion? maybe not?

thanks!

there is an adaptor that hooks in to the back of the stereo i belive. not sure where to get it im sure somebody can help. if you relly want nice sound ditch the monsoon head unit and get a nice one with Aux inputs in the back then just buy the aux cord for the i pod and run it any way you like. but that is just my $.02

The Monsoon headunit is just fine. No need to go aftermarket, if you don't want to.

The CD changer connector on an '04 is actually in the center console... not the trunk. See my how to for a list of available options, and for help finding your CD changer connector. There are several adapters that connect to the changer connector (so you don't have to remove the radio), and several that connect to the back of the radio (like VW's own iPod connector that they just released a couple of months ago).

This is the one I bought from Crutchfield:

USA-Spec Aux Input

It worked great and my connection point was under the console. You pull out the insert in the console and it's underneath. It's very hard to find and I hope you have small hands. It is towards the front of the car inside the console. Mine had a blank cap plugged into it that I had to remove before plugging this into it. It's not easy. Best way is to look at it and get a picture in your mind with a flashlight. You have to do it blind since there is not enough room for your hand and for you to see.

It's been great though...worth at least what it cost. Good luck.

BTW - I have an iCruze adapter set-up posted in the org classifieds.

Out of the box, it does connect to the rear of the headunit. But one of the installs I did we built an adapter to connect to the CD changer connector... wasn't too hard.
