But if I'm in a playlist, and want to hear the music in that playlist in a random order, and I hit "mix", it switches to All Music mode. I know there has to be a way to get it to do it, I just haven't taken the time to look into it.

The Phatbox doesn't work with satellite radio equipped cars. This is why VW discontinued. Makes me sad since I wanted one of these, but I'm not willing to give up my satellite.

I was ready to get one off of ebay. The seller is a VW dealership in PA. I called them and the guy confirmed. Bummer.

Funny this thread got going again. I just put my new Phatbox in yesterday. Still learning the ins n outs, but it seems really cool. Took longer to tranfer the music to the disk than it did to install the Phatbox.

The Phatbox uses the external or remote port/cable for the CD changer. Question: If the satellite radio version has provisions for a external CD changer, then why won't the Phatbox work, as it mimics/uses the CD changer front panel functions?

Tom -

I asked Gary at Mankin VW (the place that is selling the Phatnoise on ebay that I wanted to buy) that exact same question. His response is the headunit can only recognise one or the other. The CD changer itself is not a problem. Remember that the Phatnoise has its own software and the satellite has its own software. Its an either/or thing but not both at the same time. The headunit isn't capable of both. He then said this is the reason that VW has discontinued the Phatnoise. People would prefer to have satellite.

Now if someone has a phatnoise local to me that wants to try this out on my car, I'm willing to do that. If someone in another part of the country wants to try this out, fine. So far, I've seen one post that implies someone had satellite and gave it up to have the Phatnoise. No one has said they have both with the stock satellite enabled-radio that has satellite enabled.

If someone is out there that has both, please find them and let's get proof positive on this. I would love to have both.
