Crutchfield.com is the usual answer here.
The reasons are pretty clear, though. They provide custom fitment so if you order something from them they'll provide all you need to plug it in.In your Monsoon-gifted case, there is one model that matches the NB: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Tid1dnQ...0&I=236BUG1T45 http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Tid1dnQ...0&I=236BUG1AT4 One is a 10" sub, the other is 10" sub plus amp. You can go to Crutchfield, enter your car spec, and it'll show you a list of other subs that aren't custom fit but will fit and work in your car. And if the price of the equipment is over $129, shipping and necessary kits are free, by necessary kits I mean any harnesses or connections needed to make the equipment plug'n'play.

Yeah, i think i'm looking to spend less than Crutchfield.
I'm also not needing a custom fitted piece, i can build one of them actually. Truth be told, all i need is a speaker and the electronics and the rest i can pretty much do ghetto style. I'm rather handy with fabricating things out of wood such. I guess high school shop and art clases pay off after all. |

Also, it really doesn't answer my question.
I'm smarter than the average bear. If someone tells me i need a "lefty jones 9mm screw axle" i'm positive i know what one is. I can access the amp, i know where things go, i know how to do it. I just need to know WHAT i physically will need to do said project. Will i need another amp? |

You don't need a separate amp, but the monsoon amp isn't going to do anything special with a subwoofer so you pretty much have to get a separate amp for the subwoofer, if that answers your question.
Here's a how-to: http://bambergvr6.50megs.com/monsoon...stallation.htm |

Go with the Landspeed setup which uses the factory setup...

Plus... he already said he didn't want to spend as much as the crutchfield subs... and the Landspeed kit is at least twice as much as those.
paultakeda is correct, though, FineExampl. The Monsoon amp already drives a set of subs. Adding yet another sub to the factory amp just isn't going to gain you very much more in terms of bass. You'd have to move off to an after-market amp in order to drive anything of any more substance. It sounds like you need a lefty jones 9mm screw axle, man! ![]() |

I don't have the Monsoon system but couldn't you just get a line level to RCA converter and tap it into the speaker wires for the rear speakers??? Or is the Monsoon amp to "sensitive" and not allow you to do this? This option would require getting another amp to power the sub which is really the only way to go.
If you want the audio system to be balanced, then your sub(s) should be getting ATLEAST 40% of the total system power (50% would be even better). From what I know of the Monsoon system there is no way that you are going to get enough power to run a decent sub and still have balanced sound in your Bug. Here is my suggestion: find a decent sub and amp - probably not much more that 300 watts of max power (around 150 watts RMS) Cost: $100-$200 via eBay or other online store get a line level converter that will take the audio signal via your speaker wires and turn them into a low level RCA input that you can plug into your amp. ~$10 or less get an amp hook up kit ~$30 or less (8 AWG. power/ground atleast) build yourself a box for the sub hook everything up and you've got yourself a BUMPING Bug! |
