Default Location of XM/Sirius module in 2006 Beetle

Does anyone know where the satellite radio module is located in the 2006 New Beetles? My wife's came with Sirius pre-installed, but wants to go back to XM (which she had in her previous car), so I need to know where it is so I can determine it it is something I want to tackle myself.

Thanks,
Robert

I thought I had heard that it was located on the passenger side, underneath the top most part of the dash (the squarish flat section that comes off by pushing it toward the windshield)... but come to think of it... that might've been where someone installed it after-the-fact. Wish I could find the thread again... but I don't seem to be able to (can't search for "xm" )

I suppose one really simple way to find out is to follow the lead on the antenna.

Yeah - I thought of that, but I didn't really want to tear apart the entire interior chasing down a wire if I don't have to. Especially since automakers have a tendency to run wiring through the support framing of the body.

I guess there's also the chance that once I find a source for the replacement module, it will come with some sort of installation instructions...

Ahh... yeah... sorry. For some reason, I thought you had an NBC... in which case the antenna would be right there on the top of the dash, making it easy to follow the wire.

Following it from a coupe's antenna would be a but trickier.
I'd pull that top dash off and see if you see anything. It takes 2 seconds to pop off, and is easily reinstalled.

There's also a possibility that it's actually built into the headunit.
