Default Speaker sound off

Okay one of my speakers is toasted... did not last too long with the new amp

So time to get some new ones. I want to stay under $200 for a pair and either use 6.5 or 6.75. This will be going in the rear panels and need to handle 60W RMS.

Any suggestions?

I have audiobahn ABF26's in the back of mine, and they've been getitng 75W RMS for almost 3 years now.

They are great rear fill speakers, awesome midrange, the tweeters are sorta lacking when coupled to the big mutha tweets i have up front, but all in all, i coulnt have picked a better rear speaker for the price.

The only downside is that the ABF's are discontinued. If you choose to go audiobahn, i'd suggest anything other than the AS's, nothing bad about them, it's just that theyre bottem end. Oh yeah, dont use audiobahn crossovers, they're notorious for meling on me (i think i melted 4 sets of em).But I've never blown an audiobahn speaker, and they love to go loud.

Toad, thanks for the info but not finding the ABFs from any of the online sites I trust

One problem I am seeing is impendence. My amp is 60W @ 4 Ohms, 90W @ 2 Ohms so its not making finding a speaker any easier.

I might just get a set of 6x9 and mount them in the rear deck, going to measure this weekend to see how feesible it is or I might just whack up the rear panels to fit them

Plenty of room for a pair of 6x9 in the rear deck so that is what I am going to go with. I just love to cut holes in stuff

I've yet to see speakers cut into the rear deck that look any good imho. If you havent purchased any speakers yet, or cut any holes, maybe you should do some comparison shopping. Most beefy aftermarket speakers should easily handle the 60w rms, i'd be lookin also at infinity or polk for the price range.

I know how hard it is when you just cant afford mbq's or focals.

I have nothing against using 6.5 but most of the ones I am looking at are 2 Ohms which means they now need to handle 90W RMS.

I am still debating between some 6x9 and Infinity Reference 6010cs.

I did notice Crutchfield has a sale on MBQs. They are listed as not fitting in the rear panels so not sure how hard it would be to get them to fit.

Wow, that's a steal for those MBQ's. If it doesnt fit, then most likey the woofer is too deep to fit in the factory location, and most likey would still work fine if mounted to the outer panel.

I've been meaning to mount my ABF's to the outer panel for some time, I just gotta buy another set of audiobahn 6" chrome grilles.

Oh yeah, the ABF's are as deep as you can get for the rear if you want them mounted in the factory mount, the magnet touches the outer panel That was just luck on my end since i didn't do any research, i just went, i want those.

Add here's a pic of how DEEP my door spekaers are, and as to why they're mounted on the door panel. And yup, that's a 6.75" speaker

I guess derranged minds think alike because my first thought about fitment issues was to mount them to the panel itself

Yeah great price, better than the Infinities I looked at so I just ordered them.

If you love cutting holes then go ahead and mount some 6 x 9's on the dash panels in front of you.. Besides , how many concerts have you been to where the performers were behind you ? I have 6 x 9's on custom made panels out of mdf for my front stage and love the sound. Just a thought .
