Chicken in beer
How to make Chicken in Beer.
- 4 chicken on the bone (not just the breast as it gets to dry), drumsticks if you like, but they're kind of small.
- 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 bottle of beer, regular or darkbrown beer or autumnbeer if you can get it
- 2 slices of soft ginger cake (not really necessary when using dark beer)
- ½ tablespoon rosemary, the herb of course
- 1 kilo potatoes
- 2 packages of red cabbage with apple (frozen)
Preparation:
In large pan (skillet?) bake the chicken pieces brown on both sides in half of the vegetable oil.
Poor beer in at the side of the pan.
Crumble the 2 slices of cake into the pan and add the rosemary.
Simmer for 40mins on low fire (turn chicken ocasionally)
Take lid of the pan, take out chicken and let the sauce cook in a little.
Add salt and pepper for taste.
Meanwhile:
Clean potatoes under running water and cut in quarts/slices.
Heat up the rest of the vegetable oil in wok or large cookingpan. On low fire bake the potatoe slices until golden brown
Heat up the red cabbage as mentioned on the package.
Serve the chicken with the potatoes and red cabbage.
preparation: about 55 minutes
single serving: 800 kilocalories, 37 grams eggwhite, 40 grams fat, 70 g carbs (bad translation don't know the correct English words)
Enjoy!
It's what I've served my parents on 2nd Christmasday
