Default Pepperoni Bread ( Soooo Simple!!! And yummy!)

This stuff is delicious and extremely quick to throw together and doesn't take long to bake.

What you need:

3 eggs
3 cups of flour
3 cups of milk ( I use Skim to make it a little lower fat)
pepperoni slices
1 regular size package of Shredded Mozzarella cheese (but if you prefer something else I'm sure it would taste just as good)
And I use the finely shredded.
Preheat your oven to 375
Mix the egs, milk, flour and cheese together in a big mixing bowl. If mixing by hand make sure to get all the dried lumps of flour. If using a mixing, mix on low. It doesn't need to be perfectly mixed.
One it is mixed pour it into a casserole dish and start separating the slices of pepperoni. Take a few slices and start laying them on top until you cover the whole thing. Then start pushing them into the batter. Once that layer is covered start on a new layer. This will give you even layers of pepperoni through out the bread.
There's also no need to grease the pan. The grease that comes out of the pepperoni should be sufficient but if you wanted you could put some olive oil on a napkin and rub it on the pan to be on the safe side.
Pop the pan in the oven and check it in about 20 minutes. Once the top starts getting golden brown with maybe a couple darker brown spots it's done. It's ok if the bottom (if you have a see through pyrex dish and can actually see the bottom) looks lighter than the top. That's normal. All together it will probably take about 35-40 minutes to bake.
Wait till it cools a bit after it's done to cut it up but make sure it's still nice 'n' warm when you serve it. It tastes best that way. It also tastes yummy reheated or cold. It's just damn good, period!
And if you try this let me know how it turned out!

I might have to hook this up for some Super Bowl eats. I'm sure it'll be great. You haven't steered me wrong yet Ames- That curry chicken/rice dish was a hit

This sounds delish, I'm definitely going to try it. So this isn't made in a bread pan, just a casserole dish?

OOh it will be perfect for the Super Bowl since it's yummy at any temp! Wooo!! Let me know if you make it and how it was! If it's nasty something went wrong because I haven't had one person who has tried it say it's anything less than delicious!

Oooh...you might need to watch it. If it's too brown after 20 mins turn the oven down a few notches to maybe 350. If its not golden brown by then turn it up to 400

Nope. Casserole dish. It would take way too long to bake in a bread pan and it's pretty rich. A big piece for one person would probably be too much. I cut them in to small squares.

I'm sure it will be fine Ames. It will taste even better seeing your NY Giants in the big game.

I made it today. Smelled delicious! But, I recommend using Pam, or lightly greasing any pan. I used a non-stick Teflon baking pan, and it was stuck fast. I also wonder what kind of spices I should have used, to make it taste not so doughy(?).

But, no worries. It is disappearing fast.

I'm reading your post, and thinking "that looks familiar". You quoted!

Yes, not Superbowl, but AFC/NFC Championships. Not a good day?

Hmmm...I haven't had that problem with my pyrex. It stuck a tiny bit in certain spots but for the most part it came out ok.

I'm glad you're enjoying it, Deb!

How much cheese did you use? You may have needed more or less. Or it may have needed to be baked more. Or maybe you needed more pepperoni. It's one of those recipes you can play with and not really screw up. As long as you keep the basics the same (eggs, milk, flour) you can add more cheese if you love cheese or less if you don't like it as much. More pepperoni or less pepperoni. I've found I like less cheese in it than more. It's not as rich.

Yes, it disappeared fast. But next time, I think I will use Pam, and some Italian seasoning, or something like that.

I used, in the batter, one 8oz. package of pre-shredded mozzarella. I also sprinkled some on the top before baking. It looked and smelled great, but it was kind of doughy. What could I use to make it less doughy? I'm going to make it again, Superbowl day.

TIA.

Try lowering the oven temp a smidge and baking it slightly longer

With what do you eat this Pepperoni bread?
With a salad? or something else?
I've googled casserole dish to see if I have something similar.
And I do, we just call it an oven dish

What is the weight of the package of the pre-shredded mozarella?
We only have the mozarella balls, not pre-shredded.
Is it 1 or 2 or 3 mozarella balls.....

Questions questions questions.........

Sorry MDub! This is the 1st time I saw this!
You probably need about a pound to a pound and a half of mozzarella. It's really up to you. I find that I like it better with less cheese rather than more. I hope that helps!
