Now, I know there are a lot of good cooks here. Anybody got any good/great and simple recipes for cooking scallops and prawns? Not necessarily together. The last time, I just had some scallops, sprinkled with salt and pepper, drizzled with olive oil, and threw on some finely chopped garlic. With the shrimp, I just marinated it a few minutes in olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and finely chopped garlic.

Seriously people, I can't cook. Help! If you have any other simple recipes, please feel free to contribute. I need variation too, not just scallops and prawns. Help!

Have you checked out allrecipes.com? Before you choose a recipe, make sure to read the feedback and comments it got. Sometimes other cooks have useful suggestions and they are more than eager to warn you off of bad recipes.

To me it sounds like you have the right flavors down.
What went wrong? Did you overcook? Undercook? Not have the heat high enough? etc.

I can't help if you don't give details.

That's pretty much what we do when we cook scallops, only I've never added garlic before. When I was visiting relatives in Conneticut a few years ago my uncle wrapped scallops in bacon and grilled them and they were soooooo good! I'll see if I get him to e-mail me the recipe tomorrow.

FineExampl - I think I overcooked the scallops because I was afraid I would undercook it. The taste was okay, just wondering if there's another way to cook them.

I have checked out allrecipes.com for cookies. I never thought to look there for seafood. Thanks for reminding me, ladymarmalade.

Mmmmm, grilled cheese AND ham sandwich! Yum! I gotta go get some ham now!

Oh yeah, bacon wrapped scallops! Forgot about those too.

Okay thanks everyone.

Yes, try to avoid overcooking scallops as they tend to be come very rubbery.

And bacon wrapped is my favorite way to eat them.

HerBee: That's the good thing about all seafood and especially shellfish specifically; you can cook it kind of lightly and it's considered fully cooked. If you aren't sure and just want to be safe, get a cooking thermometer and probe the meat when it's near finished. Fish is considered safe to eat at an internal temp of 145 degrees, but if you know your fishmonger and know it's fresh, that doesn't have to be the case, especially if you like your food rare.

Check out this link if your only concern is safety.
