Yes. Don't know exactly where you are headed but awrestaurant.com is their website. You can also just search the web for their addresses near where you are going. Their root beer from their fountains is the best root beer IMO. You can buy A&W root beer bottled just about anywhere, but it is not quite the same. Your float will be served in a thick frosted mug...

I've saved their website to take a look at it later.
Thank you!

Or coffee! I like a scoop of vanilla in a mug of coffee. What more do you need?

There is a used bookstore here with an old (1930s) soda fountain recipe book- everything from floats to egg phosphates. Unfortunately, it must be a rare one- $60! I think I'll go over and see if they'll let me write down a couple recipes out of it.

We have a family friend who worked in his uncle's drug store inside the Pennsylvania Railroad Station in Pittsburgh in the 1930s-40s. He said he would always hate it when people ordered chocolate Cokes because the cone-shaped glasses were a royal pain to clean afterwards I like chocolate cokes- need to try dark chocolate sometime, cherry cokes with fresh syrup, coke floats with vanila and sweetened malt syrup or a dash of powder. Down south, I'd get Limeade and Cheerwine floats or Coke with peanuts (always made the peanuts rubbery to me- but some folks love them). If you've ever read the "Cat Who.." mystery series by Lillian Jackson Braun, her character doesn't drink alcohol but instead gets a buzz from ginger ale, milk, and nutmeg. I tried this with Blenheim's extra sharp ginger ale and it was pretty neat.

hi Jacob!

That's what cell phone cameras are for. Peek in the book, and then check for "messages" on your cell while reading and snap a picture. Only works if you have a decent camera and a steady arm ...

Hi, Marcia! Been missing you! Probably because I've been gone from the .org so much. Yeah, it cools the coffee quite a bit, but iced coffee is not overly unusual around these parts. Especially in the summer!

Me I just put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on Coke and it works well. Other variations I know were Sprite with strawberry syrup. I've also heard of coffee and ice cream combo but never tried it.

You could try to make your own root beer ..

Ingredients
6 cups white sugar3 1/3 gallons cold water
1 (2 ounce) bottle root beer extract
4 pounds dry ice
Directions
1.In a large cooler, mix together the sugar and water, stirring to dissolve sugar completely. Stir in the root beer extract. Carefully place the dry ice into the cooler, and cover loosely with the lid. Do not secure the lid, as pressure may build up.
2.Let the mixture brew for about an hour before serving. Leftover root beer can be stored in one gallon milk jugs.
