Default I know its been gone over before... VR6 swap..

I have a 2000 1.8T and I also have a 2000 VR6 with a O2M 6 speed. The motor has 100k on it and im starting to pull it apart to do big pistons and rods. Im going to do a turbo VR6!!!! Im using a Mega Squrt EFI system... I'm going to shoot for 450-550HP.. ok here is my queston... cooling.. what rad and fans do you use.. i know most of the stuff is kinda easy but thats my only queston for now as I start to get more parts..ohh and has anyone done this with a aftermarket EFI systm... I want to keep most of the dash stuff working..ie spedo and tach.. PM if you have done this... Thanks... I hope to have some mock up picks up in a few weeks

THE BAD
unless you plan on an AWD system or just a car to do burnout contests with, 550hp is way too much. a couple years back, a few of the guys who work at the local volkswagen dealer did exatly what youre talking about, turbo vr6/450hp, and although it really was badass, they found out the hard way that it was a mistake. they had a battle with traction that they couldnt win. i mean, the car wasnt really even streetable because of it. they tried all sorts of setups and couldnt get anything to work as well as they wanted it to. needless to say they ended up selling that motor and did up a 1.8T to 330hp and it worked great. the car really flew.

NOW for the good stuff. dont get me wrong, its a great idea and im not trying to defer you from it. im sure with the right knowledge and time you can get it set up right. hell, maybe the volkswagen guys didnt know what they were doing. who knows. if you really want to do the project, i can get with them and see if they have any advice for you before you begin.
