Default pulling engine & tranny together

is it possible to do? it's an automatic. can they both drop out of there together as one? I'm wanting to change out them for another.

It should be possible, but if you drop it from underneath, i think you might need to remove the subframe to get the engine out. If I were to remove both at once, i'd take off the front bumper and radiator supports and everything then it should just unbolt and then the whole assembly can pull out forward. That's how it works in theory, and how it's done on every other water cooled vw, but i've never actually seen a beetle undressed that way. It is alot to remove to get the engine out, but you are getting unbeleiveable awesome access to everything that is otherwise unbeleiveably hard to get to.

x2... I bet that's the only way to pull a bug driveline, take off the front clip and rad support, swing it out, and lift the engine to clear the lower subframe support/mounts.
