You should put either one you can find. The power and mas mileage always go in the same direction. The high performance car never advertise the best gas mileage.

Either way you have to do so much more than drop in a motor!! Electrics, mounts, transmission, computer, exhaust, wire harness, accessories, etc.
Find a complete car that has been wrecked and buy the whole lot.
You will get more power from a VR6 straight away.

Yes unfortunately the only place to find a v12 is in a vw phaeton and at $96,000 American I'm guessing it's out of his/our price range.

That, and it would be very difficult to get that kind of power down to the road minus the AWD!
But if you have the $ for a W12 motor, why not AWD too!

If you want to keep the VR6 stock - take the 1.8T and give it a new chip. Than you've got about the same power (approx 180 to 210 in the 1.8t vs 193 in the VR6). If you might want to keep increasing the power - take the VR6 500hp - no problem at all.

And (very important) - the vr6 (even stock) has a gorgeous sound

w12 in a Beetle - sounds like the Wörthersee GTI W12-650 concept

stock-for-stock power will be about equal but the VR6 is heavier.

vr6 sounds a lot better

1.8t with a chip will be faster than the VR6

a 1.8t will equal a 2.8 or 2.9 vr6 - but even a chipped 1.8t will have serious problems with a 3.2 or 3.6 vr6 i guess...

a 3.2 has (stock) 241 HP or 250 HP (depending on the year built) and a 3.6 has 300 HP...

Event the torque is higher - the 3.2l engines develop 300 to 320 Nm (221 - 236 lbs ft) and the 3.6l engine develops 350 Nm (258 lbs ft)...

A 1.8t will be faster from 50mph to 80mph in the last gear (more torque in the lower rpms 'cause of the turbo)...

i've seen 1.8ts with bolts ons do 210-220ish whp and 260ish wtq...

the VR6 is also quite a bit heavier (power/weight) and will most likely throw off the handling of the car.. plus, you should probably change out the front suspension if you're adding a VR6, which i just going to add to the cost..

but if $ is no object, 2.8T is pretty fun.

600whp - that's evil!

The weight problem might be an aspect. Though - I don't know how much weight the whole turbo thing (charger, intercooler) adds for that the vr6 is no real V6 - more a row 6 with the size of an row 5 or large row 4...

But I really dunno... A scale and two engines would be nice Anyone swapping a 1.8t with a vr6 ?
