Head on over to TDIclub.com for help with this.
But I have to ask...why? As far as I'm concerned the ALH is the most desirable engine. I know for sure you'll need the wiring harness, ECU and gauge cluster from a BEW equipped car as well as a lift pump. Even if your ALH is shot it would be more cost-effective to fix or replace it with another ALH.

I guess I havent seen those threads. My question is, why? Arent the block, rods, crank nearly identical? From my understanding the primary difference between the engines is the head and fuel delivery system.

Actually the crank is beefier on the BEW engine than the ALH. Larger journals, I believe.
Here is the first thread I came across about it: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=199872 Sounds like a good idea if you are planning on building a high hp ALH engine. Start with a stronger bottom end and build up. Doesn't seem worth it otherwise, just drop in some nozzles on the ALH and your up there with a PD. |
