Just wanted to throw this out there and find out how many people think I've lost my mind(including me). I purchased a salvage 04 turbo beetle with the intention of repairing it only to find out that you need a rebuilder's license, etc. and it's a bunch of red tape & a pain. I decided rather than to just sell the car that I would find another beetle with a blown engine and literally transfer EVERYTHING from the 04 to the 99 I just acquired with a clear title. I know it's going to be a Frankenstein car when it's done but I'm pretty determined so far. The entire dash/wiring harnesses & entire engine has to be swapped over. I'm only on the dash part of this operation and it's a doozy so far. Probably 3 times more difficult than I thought it would be. I just encountered the "12 point bit/bolts" that secure the steering wheel & door hinges so I have to find that tool before I can go much further. What are your thoughts? Any advice? I know this is a HUGE endeavor and if it runs when I'm finished, I'll be as surprised as anyone.
