Default 2002 Beetle 2.0 Swap Questions

OK, so like many owners of a 2.0L Beetle, i am unhappy with the motor in many ways. I have been reading around on VR6 swaps and The Cheat makes it sound extremely simple to do on a 98-99 Beetle when swapping in a 12V VR6 from a MK3. What makes it harder to do with a 2002 Beetle? Would it be easier to use a 24V Vr6? I have also considered just swapping in a 1.8t (i realize i could go buy a Beetle with a 1.8t, but i am attached to my bug and dont want to trade it) would this be any easier than a VR6?

are you planning on running a vr6 ecu or goin aftermarket? the reason the 98-99 are easier to do this swap with is because they dont have immobilizers. but im not 100% sure y this makes them harder? (ive just been told that it does) your best bet would be to get ahold of The Cheat and ask him. and im pretty sure that the motor mounts on a MK4 vr6 are the same as your 2.0.

You might want to look at the thread in the feedback forum re The Cheat before planning around his input...

Oh trust me, I'm not planning around his input by any means, if says its possible, I believe him, lol. I just haven't seen any threads relating to newer beetles. I will definitely try to get a hold of him before making any attempt at it.

yeah, so simonsi, i just read that thread, lol. looking back at my reply to your post, i come off as a complete moron. when i read your reply i was rather intoxicated (up north for the 4th) and i was reading it on my phone, so i didnt really understand what you were saying, lol. so the cheat seems to be rather unreliable when it comes to selling/shipping, but from what i have seen, he knows what he is talking about when it comes to motor swaps. i would just really like to know if anybody has looked into doing what i want to do. i have a line on both a 24V and a 12V VR6 and i would really appreciate any advice that anybody might have for me when it comes to which motor would be easier and what might be required.

Yeah...LMAO...ask him what's easier....swapping for a VR6 engine, or shipping a turbo to someone who's already paid for it. From what I've read, shipping is MUUUCCHH harder than the swap!
