Default Someone please help me.....please...

My beetle blew a head gasket a while back and people are telling me I need a new engine. I checked my oil and it doesn't look milky or anything. I figured if I have to get a new engine, I should do a engine swap. Does anyone know any good places to go in Houston texas? My bug has been through alot over the last couple of years and I want to fix him right this time.

How much do you think it would cost total to do an engine swap? I know it depends on the type of engine but lets say the vr6 or 1.8T.

If anyone lives in houston or know anything about the mechanics here I would greatly appreciate it.

OK, what makes you sure the head gasket is blown and why would that mean a new engine?

If no complications (like the timing belt broke/slipped), then a new gasket, possible head skim and new TB and WP for good measure and off you go....

Question

???

That aside, a blown head gasket isn't an indicator you need a new engine.

Doing and engine change to a different engine involves many things besides just swapping the engine. Suspension, brakes, tranny, computer, wheels, tires, etc, and that's if you don't want any of the cosmetics of the higher level vehicle. Typically way cheaper to buy what you want, as opposed to making what you have into what you want.

Check out the import shops off Richmond, around Chimney Rock. Haven't been over there in years, but that's where all the top import shops used to be.

Oh, we don't have spammers here compared to many Forums. Good, attentive users and Mods!

For anyone who doesn't know, when you see or suspect spam, click on the exclamation mark in the yellow triangle in the upper right corner of the suspect post to report. Don't respond or quote it. Just harder for the mods to clean up.

Tico, I don't think I've ever seen a "reported as spam" message from you. Please feel free to help by clicking on the little hazard triangle on the suspected spam posts.

"Hey I think this is spam" is plenty to get the job done.

Whoops, my bad. thanks; I guess I didn't need to repeat what you said, and I'll try to finish reading a thread before posting responses. :P

It rarely happens, but maybe I'll try.

As a matter of fact I have. Not keeping count but if I were to guess I'd say over 30 times. I am always on because I use my Android phone 80% of the time to post. Every single time I see a suspicious post I report it. Maybe I am not doing it right? I click on the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark and when it redirects me to the text box I type the word SPAM. Not good?

Question

Damn, what's up with everybody today? Pissin' match after pissin' match, all day long! Along with some hurt feelings. I know we are on the waning side of the full moon, so it couldn't be that.

The fact that noR didn't see them doesn't mean someone else didn't. noR's not around so much, usually it's Dnyed. And of course you know you were doing it right, or do you always forget the "Submit Reply" button?

Afternoon, J!
