Default Vr6 in an '03 NB w/ drive by wire

hey guys, i'm planning on swapping a vr6 into my NB within then next month or so and was wondering if anyone has done the swap with a drive-by-wire mkiv vr6.

also, has anyone done the swap without using a standalone ecu? (by which i mean rewiring the NB and VR ecu together)

any and all input is much appreciated. i've put about 1500 into my 2.0 and i'm still not satisfied so i'm swapping over to the vr. thanks again!

yeah i've been watching the build, i've noticed almost all of the swaps are on the east coast. i wish there were people on the west coast that did the swap. theres a load of vr6's in the junkyards but then again over here everyone that drives a bug is a girl -____- i have yet to meet another mail NB driver on the west coast. i will keep in touch, as soon as i get the ecu i'll definitely give you a ring if i have any questions. thanks again.

so i ran into a big snag in the socal junkyards which kinda threw me off of the 24v bus. apparently a 2004 24v vr6 with tranny, ecu, axles, carriers, clutch cable, etc. (he whole front end) is about 3500 here as compared to 1700 for a 98 12v.

now my question is, how hard would it be to swap my 03 drive by wire to a 98 vr6? what exactly would i need other than engine, tranny, ecu and clutch system (mines is an automatic)
