Default Swap Euro V5 Engine for VR6?

Something Ive always wondered since I purchased it.. surely it cant be anywhere near as difficult to swap a 20v 2.3L V5 (aka VR5, its a VR6 missing a Cylinder) for its big brother the 24v VR6. Afaik, all V5s have Drive by Wire Clutches as they are 2002 onwards. They do only have 5speed gearboxes however.

Anyone any idea?

Why? I've seen track videos of INSANE modified V5 Golfs on www.vwvortex.com .

Really? Its so hard find V5 info and mods, mainly because most forums wont allow a search for a string under 4 characters (ie "V5" isnt valid), so you kinda just have to be in the right forum at the right time!

Go to the 'Tex and post a new thread in the Car Lounge called "Has anyone modified a VW V5 engine?".

I'd keep the VR5.

Sounds sweet, and pretty rare to find I hear.

Nah! Think bigger! W12 from the Bugatti Veyron! Now that'd be insane!

Buggati Veyron has a W16 with quad tubos on it so that would def be nice. W12 are on the Phaeton and Touaregs, not sure on what other cars though.

the v5 is a pretty stout motor with a forged crank, oil squirters, and timing chains. I would keep it and just look into some custom work. Lead the way.

Well, one thing I was looking into was adding a Supercharger. Unfortunately there is almost no room in the Engine bay (the V5 is of course bigger than the 1.8T engine). But yeah, swapping to a VR6 would probably be a waste since I basically have 80% of one already!
