Sugarloaf Mountain Saturday November 4th Dickerson MD Please join us in - most likely - the last GTG in MD before jack frost comes roaring through. We will meet in the East parking lot in Sugarloaf Mtn at 11:30am, where we will chat and stare at each other's Beetles. At our leisure, we will do a small hike up the mountain, which isn't actually that big. It is right outside the city, after all Elevation is 1,282 ft, if anyone knows how big that actually is.The mountain is home to many different types of trees, for the tree lovers. For the animal lovers, it houses many white tailed deer, flying squirrels, red foxes, bunnies, raccoons, owls, woodpeckers, turkeys (just in time for Thanksgiving GOBBLE GOBBLE), and hawks. Rattlesnakes and copperheads have also been spotted. If you're lucky, my accident proneness won't let anyone down and I'll get bit. You are free to point and laugh. Entrance to the parking lot and mountain are free! I'm planning on eating before hand, but there is a snacking place somewhere on the mountain in case anyone gets hungry. We're trying to make this as cheap as possible ![]() Official website is here: http://www.sugarloafmd.com/index.html Another good website is here: http://www.patc.net/hiking/destinations/sug_loaf.html The leaves look beautiful and the views are great, if you've never been out here, now is the best time! Don't forget to dress warm, as it is a little more chilly towards the top. Directions and meeting spots Take 270 to exit 22 (Hyattstown), go down Rt 109 towards Comus. After about 3 miles, make a right onto Comus Rd, and go another mile or so to the mountain's entrance. There will be signs, just in case. There are something like 4 different roads to take at this point, but you want to stay kinda straight. If you're looking at roads 1-4 (left to right), you want road #3. It says "mountain entrance", but I missed it the first 3 times. Drive up the mountain (please drive carefully, there are nasty turns, especially with the leaves on the ground); eventually when you think you're lost, there will be a sign that points to the East and West sides. Go to the right towards the East side, and we will meet in that lot. Those attending: - GINA + maybe Greg - allibug + Joe - missruby - LanyBug - TDI-Sport - Pelican18TQA4 ? - Steve Meister ?

Oh, no can do. That's an overnighter for me and I'm teaching Sunday School the next day. I'm sorry! (anything over a 3 hour drive and I require a hotel room

We are SO there. Joe wants to get some rolling shots of all of the Beetles. Does anyone have a video cam and/ or someone to work it who would like to ride with Joe? We will be driving up from Germantown most likely, which is like 15 minutes south of Sugarloaf on 270. Let me know!!
On another note, I just got my intake and diverter valve on and my car sounds oh.so.sexy. I can't wait to see everyone!! |

Yeah, Greg can probably do it.
I've actually never been to Sugarloaf so I'm not really sure what the whole parking situation is like. I was thinking of heading up next weekend just for fun and to scope out the place, unless anyone has been there or has ideas? |

Gee, I actually have a schedule conflict! I'll be in Lancaster, Pennsylvania that day canoodling over wrist watches with some friends from the watch forum. And you thought I was a "one forum kinda guy?"
Ah well, there's still hope I get to see you in State College. |

So I was talking to my mother last night about this and she reminded me that we are taking my grandparents to Atlantic City that weekend... Sorry... I was really looking forward to this! ![]()

If it's the 28th, I'm out. We are going to spend the weekend relaxing at my apartment in Farmville, VA, where I go to school. Every other weekend I have a 3+ hour drive, so a weekend to chill will be nice, not to mention it's the big 2-4 birthday!
If it's the 4th, I am in! Also, there is am Import vs Domestic Car show thing on the 5th in Budds Creek, MD that we will be going to. PM me if you are interested! |
