You were the only person to respond to my PM / email ... I had contacted in one form or another, 7 people. Still haven't heard from them, so either they don't check e-mail that often or it wasn't important to them.

Kurt (Dragon Spirit ) showed up with Megan. So there was my bug, and their bug. That was it.

As I don't have a camera, we'll have to wait patiently for Kurt & Megan's pictures. I borred their cameras and took a few pictures yesterday.

It was .. GORGEOUS up there. You have no idea. It was sunny and beautiful, and then halfway up the mountains, it was like a magic wall was in front of us. The fir tree's beside the road were green and a bit orange, and then suddenly they were completely covered in snow. It was really cool. I'm not sure if Kurt was able to get good pictures of it or not, but the sun was shining down on us and like 20 feet up the road it was completely overcast and snowing on the road. Coldwater Lake was amazing, all green and shiny. So, I'm hoping that some pictures materialize soon Kurt!!

If I don't get a camera soon my head will explode. I've been using cameras nonstop for like 10 years. Now I've been without for almost a month from my digital that broke, and since December since all my Nikon equipment was stolen. AAAAIGH.

And can you send me Megan's too?
There are a few that I took on her camera I want to see

Sorry you had such a low turnout but, from the photos, I can see that you may not have had quantity but you sure had quality.

Just an FYI...we have a family weddings on both the May and July dates so I can't attend those. Even though nothing is in concrete for June, that's probably out, too. My son graduates college and then we're off for 2 weeks for the Route 66/Roswell cruise.

I'm hoping something will work out for August. That would be a great month for an Olympic Peninsula cruise or for going over the magnificent North Cascades Highway, if you're looking for ideas.

Take care!

Ok, I don't think the Fossil Hill trip will work honestly.

From Portland it's a 413 mile drive. That's over 7 hours of driving.
So unless people plan to spend Friday - Sunday, this isn't a day trip

I think we need to plan something differenet for next month.

Anyone have an idea of what they might like to do as a group?
I have a few plans but I need to do some research first.

My friend Jerry was telling me about a factory where they make Sapphires, and they do tours if they have time enough ahead to schedule. I think that could be fun But I have to find out more about it.

The may fossil dig won't be happening anyway..... since I'm not supposed to be "planning"

It's nearly a 7 hour drive from Portland to the fossil area.... And about the same.

So the date and place is open. I'm looking for new ideas for this. But nobody is replying to my messages, so unless someone comes up with something, I don't believe there will be ANY offical gtg.

What weekend do YOU want to do something... I'll meet you myself and we'll hang out.

I have a camera in the mail coming to me... finally broke down and bought a new one... so I'll be looking to test it all out

I'm gonna have to get back to you on that. May is jam-packed. I need to sit down with the family and make sure I know when everything is before I commit to something. But that would be fun, even if it's just a few of us.

I think a run out to the Long Beach Peninsula would be fun.

Or how about a Chehalis-Morton-Elbe-McKenna-Vail-Tenino-Chehalis loop? There's some amazing scenery on those backroads. It's about 130 miles so that would make a nice drive.

I still think the drive to Windy Ridge in Mt. St. Helens is far better than the one up to Johnstone Ridge. It's longer, takes you through more of the areas of destruction, and worth doing, imho. But I don't think those roads are open yet so that would be more for the summer/fall.

Hwy 6 from Chehalis through the farmlands and teensy communities through Raymond/South Bend is cool. Bay Center used to have an awesome restaurant - the Blue Heron - but I don't know if it's still open or still as good. Might be worth checking out. Rainbow Falls would be a nice pit-stop to stretch our legs. It's about 93 miles from Chehalis to Bay Center. People could return home the way we came or make the loop south around Cathlamet or north through Montesano depending on where home is.

Just a few ideas that could be done in a day.

I'll get back to you if I can find a free day this month. Take care!
