It would be most interesting for Bug and me to attend this one. Lithia Volkswagen in Reno, NV are the people who charged me $1047 to replace three switches that had already been replaced while Bug was under warrantee. They refused to even talk to me about replacing the same three switches. They held Bug for their $1047 bloodmoney, refusing to even release Bug to me until Volkswagen could be involved, AND WITHIN TWO HOURS OF ME LEAVING LITHIA VOLKSWAGEN, BUG HAD THE SAME FAILURES THAT HAD CAUSED THE TWO REPAIR SESSIONS!!!!! And, Lithia Volkswagen refused to repair their repair or refund my money.
So, I used acrylic artist paint, and painted "Lithia VW Repair Ripoff $1047" all over Bug in 12" high letters. I worked for the State in Carson City and I drove 78 miles per day roundtrip between Reno and Carson City. People stopped me in parking lots, at intersections and in driveways to tell me their horror stories about Lithia VW in Reno. Over 200 people talked to me in the first three months after I had painted Bug. People took Bug's photo at stoplights on their cell phones to send via email to their friends. Now, slightly over a year later, there are still faint marks from the lettering on Bug and people still stop me to ask what my car says, AND to tell me their Lithia VW ripoff story. Bug was repaired finally by Independent Automotive in Sparks, NV. They replaced the brake switch that Lithia was supposed to have replaced (but hadn't, and still had charged me for), and reset the computer which Lithia had not reset. With an oil change, cost me less than $50. Yes, I should renew the paint and go to this little Lithia VW of Reno GTG. How fun! Sue ![]() |

The recruiter said that she needed a chip programmer. Hey, I'm a retired engineer. I've been programming and using chips in experiments since 1979. My first chip was one of the first TI EPROMs. I wrote the code, burned the chip, ran the experiment and wrote the research report. So, I figured a little retirement job programming chips would be recreational, relaxing, fun. Whoa, the bitch recruiter actually meant that Arrow needed a warm body to stand in one place all night and put the little chip in the socket, push the green button, take the little chip out of the socket, and repeat. For hours and hours. Standing next to and working in an area with people who spoke little to no English, or worst yet, who were bred and born in Northern Nevada and were educated by the fine school system in Northern Nevada (or The National Inquirer, never could decide exactly which). I have never had the opportunity to work with such petty nasty people in my life, including my work with the State and with groups of male engineers. After about two weeks, I excused myself, turned in my little bag of anti-static gear, and got the hell out of there. I took my plane for a jaunt to Elko, got enough wind through my hair to blow out the bad juju, and decided that I needed to move back to civilization despite my profound love of the deserts and mountains of Northern Nevada. I apologize if I have offended you in any way. The time I spent at Arrow was one of the most demeaning frustrating bizarre experiences I have ever had. Your mileage may vary. YES, working at Arrow is waaa-ay better than the casino jobs. I have never worked at a casino, but the daughter of a friend did. She would come home sticky, smelling of smoke and totally exhausted. Her schedule changed almost daily. She was never given 40 hours per week, which meant that she never had company-provided health benefits, any retirement program or paid holidays/sick days. I have spent the last ten years in Northern Nevada doing research about the job market, and employer practices and policies, with the focus being job stability, benefits and longevity, in both the private and public sectors. All of this data is going into my books. I had originally planned upon continuing to live in Reno while I was getting the writing done in case I needed to check a source. After ten years of living there, I really needed to get back to civilization. I needed some objective distance. So, literally last week, I finally completed getting everything moved back to my house in the Bay Area. I am no longer a resident of Reno. Whew, it is nice to be home full time. Give my best to the New Beetle folks this Saturday. I used to stop at that A&W for a rootbeer float whenever I went over to Hobbies of Reno on Moana. Sue ![]() |

Lithia Motors! What a nightmare place to buy a car. The wife and I got lied to a number of times, got the bait and switch and finally got so tired of the BS that I told her,"lets get out of here." Magically the sales manager appears and in 3 minutes he and the salesman laid out the new deal. Upped the trade in by almost double, 0% financing. etc. I told the sales managwer that he must have the salesman booth wired with a mike. He said they aren't that sophisticated, another lie.
About 2 weeks after the sale the HQ people called me about the sales procedure and was I happy. I unloaded on him. I have been buying cars for 50 years, I am now 70, and told him I had never been so treated like a dumb rube in my life. The sales manager then called and asked what the problem was, duh. I also told him that they were so anxious to get us out of there that they never took us back to the service area. The service manager called about 10 minutes later! I may have had the last laugh though, when I was in there for warranty service I notice that the sales manager and general managers photo's are off the rouges gallery of personel at the dealers and some new "suit" was walking around with a smile on his face. We are talking about the Medford,Or dealership. Lithia is a mega dealer now and its headquarters are here in Medford. I had heard stories of how they treat customers and now I have experienced it, buyer beware. |
