Who is up for a nice LONG day run on Feb 10th.
What I had in mind was a nice winding back road trip from Mansfield to Hico with a stop for breakfast and then onto Salado for Antique Shopping for the ladies and lunch/dinner at Old Mill Pizza. Now the roads I have planned are winding, fast and fun. The main route is one I take on my Bike a lot and is a blast. Some sections of this route can be high speed for the experienced driver but by no means should we break the speed limit. The round trip would be around 350 miles from Mansfield + whatever you have to drive to get there. You can option to go back via I-35 for a faster and shorter return. Here is a link to the route for the drive down. http://www.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en...3,1.230469&t=h There are a couple of little changes that will be made along the way due to the the way the map works but this is the basic route. Everyone should be able to make the round trip without stopping for fuel so the stops will be limited to Pee breaks and points of interest. I would suggest 2-way Radios for every car for communication along with all the other necessities of a long trip The Koffe Kup Resturant in Hico is great home cookin. Heres a link http://www.koffeekupfamilyrestaurant.com/ Salado has great Antique Shopping http://www.salado.com/shopping.html The pizza here is second to none. For those who don't want or can't eat the pizza they have lots of other dishes as well. Check out the Menu.... http://oldmillpizza.com/page2.html I had thought about inviting a group of Scion XB's from a local club to go along. You have to have someone haul back your antiques. Anyone have any thoughts?Any of you NB owners from Austin area could meet us at Old Mill Pizza for a GTG and photo fest. Meeting time would be 7am in Mansfield and departing at 7:15 that would put us in Hico at 9am. A good hour for breakfast and on the road to Salado. The drive down is only 3 hours and would put us into Salado around 1pm or 2 if we make stops for whatever. This would give us a good 2 hours of shopping as most places close at 5pm. Old mill is open till 9 so I say shop first and then we can eat. We could meet at Old Mill at 5:30 and have a nice dinner visit and then head back. I plan on driving back via I-35 to Hillsboro then I35W on home. Lets here from ya!!!! Last edited by Fooled Ya; 01-28-2007 at 04:01 PM.. |
