Default !st Annual "Just For the Heck of it" GTG..Oregon Coast

Everyone in the PNW! We need a "JFTHOI" GTG! Who wants to just drive to the coast for lunch, friends, maybe a few pics, and comraderie?

I know we are planning one for July. This one will not replace that one. This one is for the end of winter, a dust-off, if you will. Well, that, and I need the people I love around me right now. Zac and I are going, wanna come, too?

Saturday, March 31st. Gather at 9am. Safeway parking lot, NE 112th Av and 28th ST, Vancouver. It's where Burton becomes 28th. There we can get road munchies and drinks, and do a little schmoozing. Mill Plain, 1st left at (or north on) Cheklov (sp?) just east of 205. That becomes 112th, Safeway will be on right at 28th.

Please say you will join Zac and me!

Please, post here or PM me. I know I am not the ONLY ONE who need a little NB love!

Sounds like a great time. I was at the cosat saturday and although it was windy and cold it was a good time. I havn't been in so long and really should go more often.

The only thing is I have to be back that night by 5:00. My cousin is in a cage fight that I told him I would go watch.

Steven, JP, I don't want this to be an all-day thing. Just a little "get-out-of-town" and hug your friends day. I am sure you will all be back to normal my 5pm, and I want to be too. It's only a two or so hour drive there.

Or maybe, we just hang around here, take some pics and eat lunch. Just so we can be together for awhile. Maybe the beach is too much for a casual GTG.

Any thoughts?

The beach will be great. I think we should defenetly do it. A trip to PC is fine with me. I really like that part of the coast. I have never been to the Pelican although we park next to it everytime we go there. The best clam chowder in the world is enough to get my vote.

Who else is coming? Lets make this a great start to the summer GTG's!

So, who is gonna lead the pack? We could meet farther south if you want. Rather than coming all the way up here, then backtracking.

What highway do we take to Pacific City? This will kinda dictate where we will gather.

I usually go through Salem out WHY 22 toward Lincoln City and cut off just before. If we go that way we can meet in Salem and head over from there. There is a Fred Meyer a block form the freeway we can meet at and get snack, gas and anything else you may need.

yeah, salem highway 22 is a good route, Dnyed and I could meet in portland and caravan from portland.

Another option since we're doing a beach think in the summer could be a drive up larch mountain in the gorge. unfortunatly if it's not clear, there is not much of a view. We could do a drive through the scenic highway in the gorge, or a visit and hike around multnomah falls.

Ideas for thought.

yeah, I know you will be in your VEEDUB so it's all good, they're nice cars.

I have a comitment at 7:30 to fill some symphony seats with my girlfriend that we need to occupy saturday night, so we'd have to be done by then, and that may take out the multnomah falls hike. but larch mountain has a small trail that's only like a mile long or so round trip.

A drive through the scenic highway could also be a good option, there are a few places to stop, but I usually blow by them

Stupid submit button....... Doh!

I am hoping for a caraVW with you, form Portland, meet up with Steven in Salem, go to Pacific City, and have the clam chowder and maybe some fish and chips for lunch. I am from Brookings, I miss the coast, and I love the fresh seafood you can get on the coast. Not to mention, the fresh salty air, and scenery!

Even if for some reason you all change your minds, I am still going.

Hope to finally meet you!

I am going for sure. I asked my wife last night if she wanted to go and she was kind of excited. She wants to go to the beach but with just our two dogs and me. She's really not the spontanious type. I'm still working on her to get the day off work. None the less, I'll be there for sure.

So, is the plan meeting in Portland, or the Safeway in Vancouver? (I work only a few blocks from that store). I dunno, if I can get the day off Saturday, but I could try yto at least show up at the start.

You can meet ME at that Safeway on 28th/Burton and 112th. I LIVE only a few blocks from that!

Then we can meet anyone in Portland, then meet with those in Salem, then head to the coast.
