Washington DC GTG Saturday May 26th ![]() Details I hearby declare this the 2nd annual Spring DC GTG...and it's actually in DC this year! I have reserved a picnic grove in Rock Creek Park from 10am-3:30pm. There's a very large parking lot, covered picnic benches, bathrooms, nature and stuff, and of course lots of Beetles and fun. The area is really big, so bring your friends. And your baseball gloves. Because I like to play Afterwards, we can do something fun like go sightseeing or go to Dave & Busters, or something. Ideas?I would like to make this potluck once again (everyone bring a dish or drink or something), it seemed to work out well last time. ...and we'll actually have a place to sit Please let me know what you plan to bring - anything is fine.FYI On Sunday, May 27th, there is a show in Manassas, VA - BugOut 61. Manassas is about a half hour south of DC so if you're planning on making a long weekend out of it, we can plan a carabug down there. www.bugouts.com Directions Get to 495 and get off at exit 31 (Georgia Ave) towards Silver Spring. You'll only go about 2 blocks before you see a sign for 16th Street - veer right and go that way. Continue down 16th St (into DC) for a couple miles, and you'll eventually want to turn right onto Joyce. From there, follow the signs to grove 6. It's not far. If you're traveling down 16th St and see a big sign for Miliary Rd, you've gone too far. There is no real address to this place, but it's very close to the Park Police office on the same road. For those of you with GPS, punch in 1800 Beach Dr. NW, Washington DC 20015. This will get you to the general area, but follow my given directions once you get to 16th St. They close a lot of roads on the weekends. ** Keep in mind that radar detectors are illegal in DC! If you are caught with one, you could be fined or arrested, they don't joke around ** Rules and stuff This is a national park, so there are a few rules to follow: 1. Be respectful of all the trees, don't beat up on them. What did they ever do to you?! 2. Don't throw your trash all over the place, use the trashcan. 3. Don't pee all over the place, use the bathroom. 4. Watch for wildlife and treat them nicely. They do not make good pets. 5. Be aware of yellow jackets (no, not the orger) in case you're allergic. Don't feed them, please. 6. Don't go in the water, it's nasty. And you're not allowed anyway. 7. If you bring your dog, keep it on a leash. 8. If you destroy anything, I need to pay for it. So please, don't. Cool orgers attending (pulled from previous thread) - GINA - bugasm99 - Pelican18TQA4 - BettyBug - phantom302 - missruby - Audiophil - GREG (if we're lucky, he'll bring the org-famous Topaz) - Moshynukin - heyou - FineExampl/AppleScruff? - pdoel?
