I haven't been to a Bug Jam probably since '98. I'm hoping to get here this year. A lot depends on if my pregnant wife has given birth by then
![]() Here is a picture I found of my old Jetta at the Bug Jam. It took first place in that category. It was certainly modified, but very understated and clean. Here is a list of the mods to a stock 1995 Jetta City: GLX Leather interiorIf you aren't familiar with the "City" trim level... From what I recall, there were 2,000 cars made. They were stripped down models. The seats had cloth seating surfaces and vinyl backs and sides. As far as options, there weren't any. It had power locks and A/C. It didn't even have a radio! I still have the window sticker somewhere. I think it had an MSRP of $13,450 or somewhere around that. A week after that picture was taken, a kid rear ended me while I was stopped at a red light. I brought the car to Reeves over in Tampa, and they did a sub par repair. The body was still bent and they covered all the overspray from their paint job as best they could with undercoating. When they called me to come pick it up, I anxiously went over to see the car. They were surprised at my reaction to the 'quality' of the repair. I was in a rental car for over a month while they were trying to fix the damage from the accident and their body shop. That car was PERFECT before the wreck. You could eat off the engine and the wheel wells were pure white. I wound up swapping that car in on another Jetta. I miss those cars.

Thanks. It was really a fun car. I had a payment on it - $126 per month! One afternoon I pulled into another VW dealership in Tampa with the car, and the manager complimented me on how nice my GLX looked! I never took the City badge off the trunk. I always thought it was kinda cool to leave it on. Here's a pic from the other side. Sorry about the crummy quality. It's a scan from an almost 11 year old 35mm photo. I still have the genuine VW wash bucket that is in the picture, too.

I will be at the swap meet most of the time.
Maybe if there nothing I want there I might walk around the car show. Most of the time I put my car in the show. I don't win trophies but it is for a good cause and I know where my car is. ![]() |

I got a copy today I was in a lot shows featured in that issue. Funfest and most of the vw classic. I rode in a 67 vw bus 6800 or so miles all around the USA. Met lots of good people everywhere. Visited EMPI USA, Sewfine, West Coast Restorations, Mid America Motorworks, Vee Dub Parts Unlimited, and Gene Berg's Shop.
