Tampa Bay Area..... How about a GTG

Hey

All though I no longer reside in the Tampa Bay area, I still frequent the area- Mom and the sibs still live there. Anyhoo, I've noticed a large influx of Tampa/surrounding counties New Beetle owners joining the org. I say lets get some GetToGethers going.

Of course, it would be great to have a huge blowout regional GTG, and that would be great, but what i'm saying is just get something going. Start small- meet up at Sonic or whatever designated place you desire, just to start connecting with people in your area. Soon your collective will grow into something bigger.

X-Scribe, a fellow, I believe is part of a local group and maybe he can be of assistance. Maybe you all can even join up with his group. What ever the case, let's get something started. I'd love to make the roadie down there and meet up with you all.

There is a group of people that meet in Sarasota Thursday and Saturday nights. But they also meet in Brandon and Tampa occasionally.

I don't know all the details I have gone but not with my car yet.

Check out Dubdojo.com or VWFix.com those are two other forums that have weekly or monthly meets around Tampa bay Area. They have FixxFest and EuroTreffen Yearly in Bradenton!

Let me know if you get stuff going! People in other forum might help but they are all just VW enthusiasts not just NB!

I'll check out those sites. Those two meets sound great, but what i'm getting at is not to plan a yearly event. Just try and get a good group of people together and do a GTG. From what you've just said, I think you're saying the same thing, right?

We usually meet up a the Sonics around town and are now starting to meet up at various spots around town. No major shindig- just friends getting together and sharing a few laughs and looking over each others beetles. Hope that can happen it Tampa. I'd really like to attend one of you guys GTG's when you get one going.

. Yeah, bring the B/F along. He'll catch the Beetle fever before you know it- thats not if He hasn't already.

Thanks for the jesture, but it's cool. My Mom lives in Brooksville and I have 2 brothers in Tampa, so when I come down I get the extra added bonus of seeing the fam. 'Sides I love to drive and TPA is only like 3hrs. It would be nice to see you guys form a little collective of your own.

There is a good water cooled meet every thursday at the parking lot of the walmart on tampa road/hillsborough avenue in oldsmar. They need more new beetles. (meet starts around 9pm)

Well there you are. How goes it? Glad you chimed in and gave us the info. I couldn't remember exactly when you guys met. I'm still gonna make it down there and hollar at you guys soon. And yes i agree, more New Beetles need to represent. But dude, 9:00pm????

I am well. I am 50 miles from the Texas state border traveling in a 67 vw bus that is acting up. I am going to California for the VW weekend there.
MidAmerica's funfest was great I met Bugman&wife.

Ouch, 9:00 in Tampa on a school night That's a little on the late side for me. Maybe I'm just getting old... If there was a GTG in between Orlando and Tampa that could maybe bridge the two, I think it could grow and get a great turn out.

Anybody up for something off I4 in Lakeland? There are lots of places around - malls, mart store parking lots, restaurants, etc.

Isn't there that Dinosaur World off of I-4, in between Tampa and Orlando? I've never been there. That might be a good hangout. I'll check out Google and see what's up with it.

EDIT: Well I checked out Dinosaur World. It looks like a okay place, but there's a 12.00 admission, which would be okay, but i think what we're trying to achieve right now is just a meeting place on the cheap, just to get things going. After a collective of sorts gets formed, then something bigger can possibly get into motion.

Any other ideas?
