Waterfest 13 July 21 and 22

Who is planning on going to Waterfest this year?

I figured it was that time of year again so maybe someone should start a thread.

I just looked up show classes and there is no stock NB/NBC unless I'm missing it.

I am planning on being there, waiting for the vacation request to be approved. We are probably coming down in my boyfriends VR6 Jetta though, not UBugNMe.....I guess we could bring both, but I would rather ride with him then follow him.

As of right now i'm not going. I had an awful time last year and had stuff stolen off my car in the exhibition area. If i go, it'll be stripped down and also spur of the moment. However, i might go. I just doubt it.

Karen, if you and Justin (and i assume Jose?) are going to be in town that weekend, we could get together for dinner or something. Get in touch with me when youhave a chance via email.

Yeah I doubt it also. If I went, I'd have to make a weekend out of it. Cheapest hotel I've found is $75, but I'm not into the whole party-get-wasted scene that goes on over there. Not to mention their bad rep of your stuff getting stolen at the show. PLUS the $35 fee to get in! AND I'm flying out of town the following weekend. Yeah, I doubt it

There is a stock NB class, but it's lumped in with Jettas/GTIs/etc.

i'm not going. i used to go but stopped a few years back.
the folks who run the show "waterfest productions" aka rapid parts are real jerks. they don't care about the enthusiest at all.
the show also attracts the worst types of people, thieves, vandals, ect...
a few years back i nicknamed the show "vendorfest" because every year the vendors got bigger and the show area would get pushed further and further back.

plus, try to race at wf, it blows. you have to wait in the staging area, sweating to death, all to get 3 runs in if you are lucky.

It's all about the "big dogs" there. The "go big or go home" philosophy is alive and well at Waterfest.

They do have bargains, but you have to find them.

Atco/Waterama is this weekend, but i am doing a "concert weekend" so that's also out.

Everyone's birthday falls on this weekend, so I'm busy doing birthday thingies. Not to mention I need to get my bumper painted I went to Atco last year, it got "rained out" (but not really)

I'm going. I'll be in the exhibition area with the rest of ///BAR.

The show is totally different when you are in a club or group. This is when everyone puts on their Sunday best and goes out to show off.

The show area is the same as any other show, the vendor area is cool because yo can get great deals, plus we know a few of the vendors personally, so we stop in to say Hi. In addition, you get to see people you don't get to see often.

My friends and I are getting hotel rooms and we're going to just chill out on the night between the two days. THAT'S where the real fun is.

I admit, Waterfest is mostly hype, but we manage to have a good time

My car will be there even if its not painted. This will be the first show since I put the rsi kit on.

Class number 30 is stock NB - I don't see one for NBC except for Mod1.

I'm going, but now I'm almost afraid to after reading some of the posts.

I don't know why everyone is so down on Waterfest. It has been a tradition between my best friend and I to go every year. She flies in from Florida. I've never shown before, but nothing has ever happened to my car (knock on wood) and I know that its a drunken fest for some people, but it never has been for me. I usually only go the day of the carshow and I walk around and hang out. My friend knows the VWFixx guys from Tampa, so we usually hang out with them for a little bit and look at all the cars. I always have a great time at Waterfest.

Oh I am SO going. I didn't go last year, cause I still drove a Saturn. Joe and I are fighting about driving up, I want to do the Eurotuner cruise, but he says people will be being jerks. Any other VA/ MD Beetles want to cruise Friday after work?? No excessive speeding and jerks allowed!

I've decided to give WF one last shot this year.

I'm not gonna show or anything, because I'm saving everything I got for H2O, where I'll be showing Missy.

The perhaps only good thing about WF is the vendors.

im heading down to waterfest this year, i went last year and had a blast! my bro went like 10 of the last 13 shows and he raved about it, last year was me and my friends first time and we were planing this years trip on the way home we liked it so much. im heading down friday with sweetpea (another org member)(but she never comes on here, i try to make her) and my bros passat wagon, if anyone wants to ride down with us that would be cool, if not i wanna see some org members there, i still havent met anyone from on here and i went to a few shows! wheres all the CT/mass/ri bugs at?????? get out and rep, bugs are cool, everyone seems nervice to get picked on or something. bugs ARE cool , get'em out there!!!!!!!!

Well, I will definitely be there, although I don't think I'm showing. We're driving from NY, maybe we can meet up and drive some of the way together.

I'll be there Nick...I've seen your NB around Ashford and Stafford, and I do believe we've talked once at a CVA show.

I may be showing my 98 Jetta...that is, if it gets registered in time or I borrow a dealer plate.

I'll be there Sunday only.

Something tells me though, that if I were to bring it, it'd probably incite jealousy amongst the MK3 crowd and it'd get stolen just like all the S4's last year...

cool,im getting excited, it will be good to see some of you guys and gals down there! and all you guys from houston coming up, im very tempted to follow you home, ive been trying to get back down there for 6 years now!hahaha, hey the cheat, i have a really bad memory but im sure ill remember you when i see you or your car, cool hope to see ya there. and flwrpwer, we could meet up, im going friday .might detail the cars before we go so we'll leave in the afternoon, unless we do it the night before.i took friday and monday off so i dident have to rush or hit to bad of traffic, we sat on some bridge last year for like 5 hours, oh and we were tapped out coming home, dident even have change for tolls, haha, should probly look into if they got payed before we head down there again, hahaha.
