ok, its Official.

I am opening up my two car garage to Myke for the installation of his timing belt.

I know others wanted to come and lend a hand. (or just to shoot the breeze etc.)

Myke is gonna be getting to my place by 9am so his car can cool off.

work to begin around lunchtime or so.

Here is my house. Well, my driveway is actually 2 driveways EAST of the arrow.. but close enuf.

you can get directions from your place at your lesiure.

post up here if you wanna come.

Aaron +5 (whole family will be around)
Myke (At least I HOPE he is gonna be here since its all for HIM anyways!!)

We are still going at it BTW...

Had issues with the tensioner and then the timing was off 4 teeth

so.. had to remove the motor mount and the tensioner again.. reset the timing (removing spark plug to verify TDC since the flywheel he has on the car has no TDC mark.

after resetting the timing it was fun fun fun re-installing the tensioner (PITA!!!) then removing the alternator to get to the thermostat
we ar ein the middle of reinstalling the alternator and soon to be filling it with the pink stuff.

wish us luck!

Myke & Don & Theo (dons Son) Just left.

car was running well and the thermostat housing was not leaking. (it was installed too loose the first time and puked a lot of coolant onto the floor) (oopsiE!)

Mykes N249 Valve is appparently bad because it keeps throwing a mechanical malfunction code.

otherwise trhe car is running well and he has some extra coolant to top it off on the way iff needed. (he has a 1.5 hour drive home to Dayton area)

Don & Theo have a 2.5 hour drive home, hopefull ythey will check in here when they get home.

I am going to bed. its wayYYYY past my bedtime

Had a great time., Glad I could help, And Amanda is glad you guys liked the cookies. she wasnt able to make them properly and you guys didnt even care.

Night@!

Um, well, why didn't you guys use the mark on the accessory belt drive pulley? It's a heck of a lot easier to use than trying to read the flywheel. Glad you got it done!

Long day.

Bill,

we DID use the mark on the accessory drive pully, but me being me just wanted to PHYSICALLY verify TDC with a stick on the piston top to make sure the pully wasnt installed 90^ out or something.

basically I wanted to do a reboot and start over to make DARN sure the timing was right after getting it all together and having the cam timing 4 teeth off. it was off from futzing with the motor mount bracket/tensioner/tension pully for hours trying to get them all to play nice in the cramped bay.

my question is is there a way to get the mount bracket ON after we get the belt and tensioner all together? does the motor jack up high(or low) enough to just pop that mount bracket on that Bracket was the brunt of the problem trying to work thru it. it can only be in like ONE place to get it all together when its all in there
