There's a really cool stop about 100 miles NE of Oklahoma City called Jacob's house!
But seriously, if you do come through OK (it's more than just an abbreviation, it's a sign of the great the state it! It's just OK. But not really, I actually love it here. Wow, this is a really long interruption!) we've got to meet up. If you'd be interested there's a memorial to the Oklahoma City bombing, but that's a bit of a downer. There are a number of Route 66 stops throughout the state, there's Steak and Shake in Edmond, just outside of OKC (as we call it here), and for a different spin on airplanes there's Tinker Air Force base on the other side of town. Not that I'd expect to be able to get you (or even me) access, but there are some neat military aircraft on static display outside of the base. If you wanted to learn about cowboys or Oklahoma history there's a museum down there that I hear is pretty darn good, and I've heard rave reviews about the OKC zoo, though I've never been. Here's an opportunity! Depending on your route out of the state (I assume it'll be mostly interstate highways? but if not...) there are some nice natural areas, fun campgrounds, stuff like that. I hope you'll come out this way! If not, I understand... but I'd never forgive you. ![]()

Thanks for the tips Jacob. When I was at my parents house for dinner tonight I did mention to my parents that you were most likely to respond (my dad still has that bankaccount in Broken Arrow btw).My parents only have 3 weeks to drive down and most of the time they/we like to spend in New Mexico, but it seems there's more than enough to see in OK as well. Thanks for that. Keep 'm coming people! ![]() |

Oh come on, you work for an airline! You know how safe it really is and all that!
There are guys I work with who have never been on a plane. Even with our flight benefits! Weirdness. Or is it just the length of the flight that you're worried about? |

You guys HAVE to check out Santa Fe, NM. It's about an hour away from Albuquerque and it is a beautiful, neat, and just all around cool little place. Las Cruces, NM is nice too. I don't really have anything good to say about Albuquerque, but I do have some fond memories of it. That's all...

It's 'just' the fear of crashing (been in 3 major airpockets above the Andes mountains in Peru).Have flown many times before that, have flown since that, but not as unworried unfortunately. And right now I see airplanes approaching one of the Runways, so I see them taking of and landing every 5 minutes, but that doesn't take away the slight fear I have. So what about this? Woolaroc Museum & Nature Preserve, Bartlesville, OK My dad has been there and thinks it's very interesting |

Woolaroc is wonderful! It's a chance to see American Bison grazing, then eat one of them at the diner!
![]() Only thing about Bartlesville is that it's clear across the state from OKC in the opposite direction from NV. But if that's not a problem for you, it's not a problem for me! Also in that town was a really interesting building designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, his only skyscraper ever built. It has no 90 degree corners in the entire building, not even the furniture! If you have the time, we could head up to Bartlesville one day. That'd be sweet! |

You know, if you like, I could also mention this idea to the Tulsa VW Club and have some of them join in the fun. There are a couple of watercooled VWs and lots of vintage stuff! If you think it would get too hectic with so many cars and people, I understand that, too!

Don't mind my parents coming along though ![]() Mark your calender somewhere mid March. A better schedule will be made closer to the trip. Then cellphone number can be shared as well How cool! ![]() |

Oh! what kind of temperature can we expect to have in mid March Oklahoma, New Mexico and Nevada? |

One of the sayings for Oklahoma, quoted from Will Rogers (who was born in Oklahoma!) is that if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes. But I think there might be some rain then, and the temperature can be a bit cold still. Maybe 10-15? Your temps, not ours.
