planning the NEXT Tampa, FL GTG

we had an awesome saturday night with a great turnout. We had a nice lady who drove by with her new pride and joy a black 79 super beetle convertible. Then a great guy with a 1969 white bus that looked like it just came out of the dealership! It was so beautiful it was sick! The real kicker was an older gentleman who was just buying some groceries at the Save A Lot in the same shopping plaza we park. He drove his son's 1967 vw type 3 squareback. He did not know about us and was just doing a little shopping!
Everyone is still invited!

These GTG's will work if the folks would at least check out the org so things would come together. Maybe we should dedicate a org check in day, so the lurkers can get more involved in the goings on of putting a half way decent GTG together.

And Rafel, I was in Tampa this past weekend and I so wanted to meet up with your crew, but I was down to marry off my baby sister- awesome wedding, and besides I drove down in Peedie, my wife's PT Cruiser; it would have been blasphemy to arrive in a PT

It is hard to get anything going in Tampa. People here work from 9-5, and when the whistle blows and you deal with traffic you just want to stay home. God knows what they do on the weekends. I go to St Pete/Clearwater more happening over there.
Reguarding you PT. You would have been welcomed. Even in a PT Cruiser. Drivers Wanted remember.

I dunno mang. Taking Peedie (Val's PT) to a GTG would be like leaving Val home to take another woman out on a date. Just wouldn't feel right, but thanks for the invite

Yeah Rafel, I can't figure the Hillsborough folk. Heck, I can't figure out the Duval County folk either- I think their one in the same. I know the post 9-5 grind can put one into shutdown mode, but if someone wants to do a GTG, they should dedicate at least one day of the week and give at least 15 minutes to check the GTG thread. I don't think that's asking too much.... Just one day- 15 minutes???? Huh???

On to good news the little 58 beetle ran on its birthday week! I did the numbers and I figured the car was built between feb/march. If I averaged the monthly production right.
Now the bad news. I found out there is an intake leak. Gas is pouring out but my friend that gave me that one has another one. So I will be ok.

there is going to be racing at lakeland on saturday. I might go if I can get away from work early. My friend Dave is going to bring out his Herbie. I will definately have to get some pictures of that car.

racing on saturday and a vw show on sunday. A really good vw fun filled weekend!

Our Herbie drag racer broke. Would you believe a radiator hose popped and it wouldn't run afterwards. (it is part of its turbo system) Even with that broken part it was beating a mustang. come to think about it everybody was beating mustangs lol

I think there is a watercooled gtg at tampa road at the walmart at Safety Harbor. It used to be at sonic but I think they outgrew that. Also there is a once a month gtg at a parking lot near dale mabry and the I275 I think it is at the circuit city.
I am checking out vwvortex they might be listed there.
