Default Has NBeast died?

It didn't happen this last fall. I went the year before, and enjoyed myself. Just was wondering if it was ever going to happen again? If not I might organise something for the fall. Living in New Hampshire the show would be here, would you come Up if i organised it?

hopefully not...planning committee made the hard decision last fall to postpone from fall 05 til spring 06.

don't know about other members of the planning committee, but my work schedule has been nuts the past few months with travel.

need to get all of us together to put a plan for NBeast in place---even got a call from the hotel we used at NBeast #2...they'd like us back in Virginia Beach again.

will keep ya'll posted.

I'm on the committe and the general feeling I got was:

1) no one had the time to call the vendors
2) no one took charge

The former leader of the pack (and I can't think of his name right now) basically said he couldn't play organizer for 05 and asked for everyone to help.... well, I was "assigned" to do tshirts and such, but it never happened. Lisa Linn is a local here and I believe she's been a part of NBeast since conception... she's also got her hands busy with a Westy project (hence why I was to do the tshirts).

Hopefully, tho I've not seen any emails yet, Shelly and Lisa and the rest of us on the email list will start coordinating and have the event.

I, personally, would like to see a large, highly promoted, New Beetle east coast event myself. Perhaps the coast line of NC?? We have Crystal waters

i am probably up for doing the web site and online registration form again this year, but don't have the time to provide much in the way of leadership.

if we wind up doing it in NC, i am sure i'd be up for a scouting trip to the coast-- or the mountains-- as well.

chris, we should try and convince britt to help. if we had three NC people working on it, and held it in NC, that might work really well.

I would love to see a large event in NC...just when I'm here for school and not when I'm at home! :P

I don't have time to organize things like this any more, but I'd be very happy if someone else was willing to take over the helm. So if anyone wants to step up to the plate & lead the NBeast effort, please don't feel like you need permission from me

It's a shame that I never got to participate in the original NBEast.

only problem with having it on the east coast ,, is you wont get anyone from farther east ,,,
basiclly what im saying is ,,why not have it somewhere more central maybe pa. or hey ,,what about ohio!,,,then we could pull fom all around !
i went to the last one at va beach , and frankly was disappointed by the turn out ,,i think there were about 15 to 18 cars ,,we have more new beetles show up at the columbus volksfest !
only wendor that was there was a vw dealer from the area ,,,i ask about bringing toys to sell and was told i couldnt because others were already on the way and they didnt have the same oppurtunity ,,
how about corordinating it with another show already established ,,we could do a day of new beetles then storm the gates of a already set up vw show !

i think having a big gtg out in effingham at the mid amreica show in june would be a blast , they already have a ton of new beetles show up ,,all we need to do is get them all together maybe have a party at one of the hotels or something ,,
i dont know ,,just some random thoughts at 1:30 am ,,

I like the idea of keeping them separate, personally. The same problem you mention (Ohio and PA folks not being able to come) means that if the show in Effingham is the new "NBeast", a lot of us from the east coast can't go. I'm a good 13 - 14 hours from Ohio. And from Illinois? Can't even guess.

I'm not married to it being in NC - although we do have two people locally who are willing to help organize it (myself and KCFoxie). But having it in NC? Not a big deal.

Those are just my thoughts ...

It's a road trip people! Stop complaining about how far away Va Beach is! I made the 12+ drive more than once. My first trip to NBeast took over 16 hours!

It's nice having NBeast in Virginia Beach, lots of fun stuff to do, and it's not a super busy area. I would suggest if it is in Va Beach again, to at least have it at a hotel/or other location, that is NEAR the beach.

We all know Ohio and PA people are lazy! Look at how many Pittsburgh GTGs fell through because no one wanted to drive 4 hours!

Just an update: the local newbugcarolina's crew met and discussed the idea of keeping NBeast alive. The catch? It's staying in our backyard... in Durham, NC.

The difference? Well, we're aiming for a VW Tuning company (that happens to be based in raleigh) as a supporter, one VW dealer, at least two independant mechanic's shops, AND there will be drag racing (in greensboro, 1 hour caravan), a drive-in movie (at the local drive-in, the starlite) and more fun than any previous NBeast (if I can help it)!

So.... while we're still trying to secure the venue (for free), if it fails we may consider other locations. The mountains seemed to be everyon'es favorite #2 choice, but seeing as how two of the three attendees live IN durham, and I just moved to N Raleigh from Durham... even my hands are tied!

Never been to a NBEAST GTG, but it sounds like a fun event. Since the Roswell event seems to be dwindling away...maybe it is time to find a "replacement" for that one? We will be doing shows all over the east coast(see my website for a schedule) over the next few months, so if this gets together soon...we would LOVE to be there!

Frank - we'd LOVE to have you and your 'vert at NBeast as well! I'll call Britt and Lisa and see if I can get some more details... we're shooting for October I believe.
