Default Bug'n in July/Point Mallard Park/Decatur/Al

The North Alabama VW Club's annual benefit
show, Bug'n in July, is July 22/23, at Point Mallard
Park, Decatur, Alabama. The show is open to VWs of
all types and years, and there will bwe judging and
prizes for both air-cooled and water-cooled classes.
It's $20 to show ($15 preregistered by mail postmarked
before July 1), and $20 to vend as well. The park
features a golf course, hiking/biking trails, a huge
waterpark, and boat ramps; located off I-65, it's easy
to drive to. The park has camping within a short walk
of the show site, and the local Holiday Inn has a show
discount as well. There will also be toys, souveniers,
concessions, and all the fun of Point Mallard; for all
who stay over Saturday, there will also be a cookout
and movie night. It's all under the Event Pavillion,
so it's rain-or-shine (see pics at the link). Gates
open at 8 both days; hope to see your VW there!

The club's show page, w/directions and 2005 pics:

Very cool. 200 miles from my crib. Is anyone on here going to be going? I know most of you are Yankees.
Since it's an all-weekend event and there's a campground nearby it'd be an awesome opportunity for some peeps to hang out and camp (camping is the bomb). And, on the way, back, maybe catch some dirt track racing at Little Talladega in Talladega.

This could be something the wife and I might attend. So if we come do we have to pay if we don't want to show? Anyways, sounds like fun we might attend. Of course I just have the plain jane turbo S with nothing done to it, man I miss my 01 sport with the body graphics and wings west spoiler. Oh how I loved it.

Can't say how many NBs will
be there, tho as it's an air/water
club some will show (see pics of
last years show at navwc.org on the
Bug'n page). As far as total turnout,
we hope to break a record for shown
cars this year, and overall attendee
should top a thousand. Are you going
to show, or just attend one/two days?

I most definitly plan on being there. I'm only 30-45 mins away and now I have pretty much all the parts I need to finish Turbs. Now I just need loads of patience and I will be ready to roll! I have been looking forward to this this since I first heard about it. I hope I get to meet a bunch of you guys so I can put names with faces.

Looking forward to seeing you guys-
only two weeks to go! We've added an engine
blow , as well as engine and stereo soundoffs,
since I posted last. We've also got a bunch of
door prizes, from dinner at several local eateries
to chrome fire extinguishers to a full set of Beetle
tires-gonna be a blast!

What constitutes a "modded" bug for this show anyways? I mean I've got the window tint, the clear front markers and my interior dash kits, is this enough to be "modded" for this car show cause I don't want to go up against some bug with lowering springs, body kit ect... Also I'll hopefully have my black tails on by then.

Here's a bump for what looks like a great show that we won't be able to make it.

I hope the weather holds out and everyone has a great time...and posts pics.

Default Now problem

I'm making sure I pack my digi camera with the camping chairs, and cleaning supplies of course. I'm not exactly sure what to expect. the only VW event I've ever gone to is the Funfest in Illinois in like 02ish? Anyways I'll make sure I post pics for all to see.

We have (if emails are correct) ~50
folks coming from OUT of state (that we know of).
Judging both days for those showing, engine blow
Sunday, 50/50 raffle, evening GTG for those who
come both days. most vendors we've ever had-so
there's a little of everything for everybody.
Plus that huge pavillion for shade or cover-
wouldn't want to trust Mother Nature in July!

Default Where you guys at?

I'm the only New Beetle here at this event. If no one else comes I'm taking the Watercooled Custom category. So where you at? Don't tell me the rain scared you away, cause I drove all the way from Southern Alabama up to the shindig, through the rain and am still showing strong. Anyways I hope I'll see you guys tomorrow. To tell ya the truth, this show is pretty much geared toward the air cooled classes but I'm still here. Pics will be posted on Monday.
