I'm going to this. Whose car should I look for? I'm not entering but I'll be there.

I'm going, but not showing - probably won't even drive my car. It'll be my first event and I'm really looking forward to it!

I'd love to bring it along, but it's kind of sick at the moment. I'm driving it only when necessary until it gets fixed. Picking up one of the parts needed today as a matter of fact.

Have fun guys !!!
Which reminds me I was in Il just a month ago (in Downers Grove and Oack Borook, so not that far from you) and In 4 days I was there I counted only 2 beetles. How come ? Is it an unpopular car in your area ?

It was a nice show despite the threat of rain. By the time the wife and I got there everyone had the towels and chamois out drying them off. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera. There was a nice show of air cooled Bugs, a couple of Dune Buggies, Karman Ghias, a handful of NBs, a tuned MkIV Jetta, and what looked like a specially made half Beetle/pick-up. The people were really nice and a group of guys from www.harshwintersvw.com were out inviting everyone to join them. My wife wants a Toureg now that she got a chance to see one up close.

Neko you were in the wrong place while you were here. You don't see too many Beetles around Downers Grove and definitely not in Oak Brook ($$$$). I see a mix of cars in Downers Grove - I think the NB is just too cute of a car for the guys at least.

Default BugFest 2006!!

In the end, the show turned out to be quite good, in spite of the early rain we received. By about noon, the sun began to shine and the drying towels came out for the last time. There were a total of 5 New Beetles in the show, with all of them having placed in their respective class. Buddy and a yellow turbo tied for third, an orange NBC and a blue NB tied for second, and in first was an 03 Platinum Gray Turbo S. We all got a nice plaque for placing, as well as a dash plaque and key chain for entering the show. There was good music playing and plenty of free bratwurst and hot dogs for all! For being my first VW show, I will certainly be returning for more. Plus, I got to meet a fellow .orger there too; Lnzbug!!

The downer -- I forgot to take my digicam, so no photos. Sorry.

We didn't go till late in the day. Just in time to get a carburator for the bus and have a quick look around. Not a huge turnout but not bad for a rainy day. I got to meet Gus and see his NB Buddy. Very sharp looking car that Buddy is, and Gus ain't so bad either I would have taken pics but doh I forgot my camera. Hopefully Gus will go to the Stateline show July 16th, so we can have all day to chat. I'm going to try to enter Chip to see if I can get me one of those awards. I promise to bring my camera too It was really nice meeting Gus and I look forward to seeing him at the next show.

Noooo !!! Not the "too cute" thing again !!

It is actually a very Manly Car [insert grounting noises].
Also the "The Manly Way of Life" (the Holy Book of every Manly Man [more gounting noises]) states:

<< The manly car can be almost any car, except such blatantly girl cars such as pink Cadillacs. >> so aside of this : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-2D...QQcmdZViewItem we Manly Man should be safe.

See http://staff.rio.edu/miket/attitude.htm for more Manly references.
