Default Sloppy Maintenance - can damage be done?

My wife’s Beetle was just in for a service, including a change of plugs, in North Vancouver and immediately afterwards she drove the car to the airport and the check engine light came on.
I got around to looking under the hood this weekend, took the heat shield off the engine and two tubes on top of the engine had not been reconnected properly. They are braided thin tubes that should connect onto brass nipples.

The tube connected to the air filter box was also disconnected.

I’ve no idea what the thin tubes do, but presume have something to do with the emissions controls.

I’ve reattached the tubes and the check engine light stays on.

If anyone can offer advice as to what I should say to the dealership when I bring the car back in, I’d really, really appreciate it.

(Can any damage have been caused to the engine by these tubes not being connected for approx 100km?)

I've attached a picture of the tubes.

They are vacuum lines. I would be rather upset since you took it to the dealer to fix it, not break it But if the only issue is the vacuum lines and you have not driven the car since reattaching them, the engine hasn't run long enough for the computer to realize that you fixed the problem. But if you have 3 lines that are that obvious off, what else is lurking underneath?

No damage was likely caused. But I'd call and complain to the service manager. ... And more importantly VWoA. Service centers are independent, and VWoA only hears about them from customers.
