Just found a great independent shop in Southern California. For starters, when I called about getting the airbag light diagnosed, they offered to do it for FREE. I had to have the cam-seal-oil-leak fixed so I called another local indie for a price; they quoted $480 vs IW's $345 (including tax) so that was a no-brainer. It's about a 25 mile drive for me but well worth it. Ian and Christian are factory trained, ex-dealer mechanics who are sharp, personable, helpful and attentive. They had a range of utilitarian and exotic cars in their shop, which was clean and organized. They even gave me a trial APR flash (my wife did not notice the difference but I did). They repaired the leak and diagnosed the airbag light for free, as promised. I highly reccommend these guys to anyone in the LA area. Check them out:

I replaced the seat belt connector last weekend and Ian at Ingolstadt West re-set the computer today for free. They rock.
