Angry VW recall on a computer program update

Ok I recieved a post card just before the 4th july from my freindly locale dealership telling me about a recall on my car. I called they said it was a software update for my computer it is a simple fix it would only take about an hour. I work really hard hours right now so plus we are super short handed so my boss is not to happy with any of us taking any time off. they said I could bring in at 8:00 am today. I arranged with my co-worker to change shifts so I would only be 30 min late instead of an hour. I figured while they had it I would have them replace the blub in the console for the heater knobs they have been out for about a year they told me it be 20.00 for the blub not a problem.

Well I get there they hook my car up to the computer the two computers start their uploads and VW computer system crashes while it is connect to my car. The dealer ship however waits untill I notice it is now almost 10:00 am and I ask what the hold up is to tell me that there was problem I was told that the computer for VW had crashed they were on with Tech support. I would need a ride can they drop me off at work or could I have someone pick me up.I told them I had no one to pick me everyone I know was at work already, plus they could not even tell me if it would be sometime today. so even if they dropped me off at my job I would still have no way to get back home by the time I get out of work they are closed anyways. I was trapped there after about 30min the manager came over to me the dealership had rented me a car from enterprise,They will be there in 20 min. (Mind you I am already 1 1/2 late for work now with an irate boss.) Enterprise shows up in a huge ram 1500 pick up truck I said I hope that is not the car she said yes it is I have to cover the gas for it(real fuel effecent for 50 mile daily trip to work and back)but I figured well this only for one day right.they will work with tech get the computers up and running I would have my car back tomrrow at the latest. The dealership tells me to call later today to find out when I can get my buggles back, I should have seen that as sign. I leave not a happy person but at least I have some form of transportation

I just called the dealership the VW computer completely blew out my car's computer so now I have to wait for a new computer to come in on Friday!!! So now I have no car exepct for a gas hog for a truck my supervisor is irrate with me for being so late I was verbally warned about my attandance..All because of a stupid computer isn't tech grand!!

Geez.. never trust the dealer unless you can get a written guarantee on anything.

See if you can get the VW dealer to talk to your boss and apologise for holding you up.

That really bites. I'd have them pitch in at least part of the gas. I'd even go as far as calling VWOA. One thing I've learned about dealers, NEVER trust their time estimates!
And don't let them charge you $20 to change that bulb ! Check my signature for the VERY EASY do it yourself instructions. The bulb AT MOST should cost $1.50

Agreed on the bulb...I bought one at the dealership for about $2 with the tax and we put it in ourselves....after all this they should throw in the freaking bulb. I would contact VWOA...and let the dealership know that you did. My dealership knows I will call VWOA...especially when my car was still under warranty. I get treated like a queen because they want to keep their rating with VWOA and the sales managers get bonus' if they get a good review. Just my two cents.
