Thumbs down JC Whitney

I will never do business with these lying people ever again.

I found a nice set of ceramic brake pads on their site at a good price. Said they would ship in 3-5 days, and I was cool with that. Paid and got an order number, no problems.

A week and a half goes by and it still says "will ship in 3-5 days". Then it says "Will ship on 07/04" and I'm like "What the heck!?" So wednesday of THIS week, I called them. Talked to a woman who was polite enough but basically found out that my items had NEVER been in stock (lie #1 - website said they were in stock) and the order had to be fulfilled by the vendor. And they had backordered them until 07/04. She called them and they had again been backordered until 08/03. Nice of JC Whitney to bother to tell me. So I told her "cancel it. I need my brakes, I'll buy locally." I got her name and she confirmed it'd be cancelled and I'd be due a refund in the next two days.

Fast forward two days - I get an email today saying "We shipped your item! We charged your credit card!" So I call JC Whitney again...

Quoth me: "What the heck!?".
Them: "Oh we have no control over the vendor's shipping. They shipped before we could cancel it."
Me: "Refund my card, now. Call your vendor and cancel it even if you have to find a tracking # and call UPS/FedEx."
Them: *hold music for 6 minutes* "Oh they're closed. Just take the item and I'll send you a label."
Me: "You refunding my money?"
Them: "Once you get the item, take it to a FedEx location and ship it back to us, call us with the tracking number. Once we receive it, and it's checked in, we'll refund your money."
Me: " I'll call my bank and darn well refute the charge. You said you'd cancel it - it's YOUR fault."
Them: "Tough. Do it our way or you never get money back.**"

So now I have to jump through all these darn hoops to get money back I did not authorize.

I will NEVER do business with these folks again - and I highly encourage NB folks to stay away.

**not actually said. but intent was there.

pretty sad for a company that used to deal exclusively to the VW community.

Call the bank now and fight the charge. Telll them what's going on. That's a very BAD way to do business. JC Whitney is losing points here.

Hopefully, when you cancelled the order they gave you some type of cancellation number. IF so, just call the credit card company and "CHARGE IT BACK". That is their lingo for rejecting the bogus charge. The merchant will get a negative brownie point from the bank. If enough people do this, they can lose their use of that card.

There was a parts source for vintage motorcycle parts in the Chicago area that had a miserable record with charge backs. It was only after a few people made a stink with the banks that his use of credit cards has ended.
