Title says it all! Went in today to have the recall work performed on the front crash sensor on my '03 VW NBC. Turns out I did have the defective part! Glad I finally got this done, lol, it's been needing done since last June or something
Anyway, I was a little hesitant to get this work done because I know how dealers can be hit and miss with things, but man did it turn out to be an awesome experience. First off, everyone was spectacularly nice, even the other customers waiting for maintenance to be preformed on their cars.
Secondly, I couldn't have asked for a better service rep than the guy I got, he was polite and actually concerned about my experience even though they weren't making a dime off this deal from me (because its recall stuff). He took the time to explain to me what was to be done to the car, and even listened to my concerns about making sure that my HID kit was properly re-installed since they had to pull the bumper. Everything went down without a hitch and I got my car back at exactly the time the guy told me it would be done. They even offered to wash it for me, but I said it wasn't necessary since it was getting late and they were still pretty busy.
I understand that dealership experiences can vary person by person and even day by day at the same dealership, but these guys are good at Lithia VW in Des Moines.
I had them pull up an estimate to replaced the t-stat while I was there, and even though they aren't the lowest, they are only within a few dollars of the other estimates I've had, so I will probably take it back to the dealer based on this experience, and also because I really don't know any great import shops around here that I would necessarily trust. (the only other good shop is another dealership for a different brand of cars in the town that I live in, and, although they are good, since it's only a few dollars I would rather take it to the VW peeps.)
A+ to my dealer.

And boy am I glad it went so well... I was actually getting pretty anxious about today because you never know how you will get treated...
